  • Your macro list?

I know that I haven't hit the levels where a RDM comes into being an entirely seperate class, and I still fill in whatever needs to be fulfilled in a group, but I was curious as to what your Macro setups where like during your 20s and onward.

Currently, I've got the top row CTRL+ (0-9) set as Cure (or C2) <t>, a few debuffs along with a message for the party, an MP report and the notorious Taru-dance. The second row ALT + (0-9) are setup for Cure with <p1-6> so I don't have to disengage from combat to heal, and Cure 2 setup the same way with 7-9, which is switched from group to group depending on who is taking the most damage.

Just looking into the community to see what other RDM are using.

I would strongly recommend scrapping the Cure <p0-6> macros in favor of <stpc>. For each level of Cure I have a macro like this:

    /ma "Cure II" <stpc>

st meaning subtarget, pc meaning player character. Hit the macro, and a little blue targetting reticle appears over your character's head. Then hit F1-F6 depending on which party member needs the healing, and hit enter (for yourself you can just enter again). No need to disengage to heal, no need to type names, no need to waste 2/3 of your total macros in a set for two spells. You can do this for Regen and Refresh as well, and any spell that is going to benefit party members. Outside of battle you can still activate the macro then toggle through non-party targets as normal, then just hit enter to cast. Can be cancelled in any case by hitting escape.

For mobs I just use <t> with spells, as in /ma Silence <t> or whatever. Some people use <bt>, meaning battle target (targets closest mob with a red name)...I think this is a bad idea, what if two mobs get agroed and targets by party members? I don't necessarily want the CLOSEST one, I want the CORRECT one. So I just use <t> and pick the right targets. Some people use <bt>, whatever works for them. Hell, most of the time I find myself positioning so that F8 (targets closest mob) does the work for me.

Similar to the <stpc> command mentioned above, you can use <stnpc> to cycle mobs, but this command WILL also cycle through pets and other NPCs that happen to be nearby. Also it's not nearly as convenient as <stpc> then F1-6.

I used the top row for anti-mob (enfeeble sets edited per party, individual keys for Silence/Sleep/etc., nukes as appropriate for bursts, edited per party), bottom row for pro-party (never changes - Cures, Regens, Protect, etc.), and one last macro to report MP.

Ahhhh, I knew there had to be an easier way of doing the Cure work without filling up so much of a macro-bank. Thank you immensely for that information.

So, I'm guessing you really only need the 2 initial banks of macros (CTRL and ALT) to handle all of the Curing/Debuffing needs up until the end-game?

Well, like Cure I-III, Regen, Refresh, etc. will all fit on one bar, and then on the other bar whatever nukes you need (basically elements for that party's skillchains) plus situational enfeebles (Sleep, Silence) plus enfeeble groups (Grav/Para/Slow/Blind/whatever, no need to separate them) fit just fine as well. You could make a separate macro set for soloing (with En-spells and self buffs readily available), and others still for other jobs.

BTW when the buffs that were grouped together run out I just type them in to recast. Using <stpc> to heal and buff the party means I can ALWAYS have the main mob targetted regardless of whether I'm meleeing or not (T or lower yes, VT or higher no, as a general rule). So since the mob never stopped being targetted, all I have to do is things like /ma Paralyze or whatever. No macro needed.

And I'm nowhere near endgame, hahaha, been playing about three weeks. But I do try and make the best of it, and a lot of RDM play at many level tiers is really sloppy and frustrating (casting Poison, then an En-spell, then meleeing and ending the fight with 90% MP and healing others afterward is my favorite, and it's an often-repeated scenario).

Honestly I dont ever use macros  I found it much eaiser just to do it all manual. Since once you get refresh it's a 18 sec wait. So I'm up to date when it is avalible to cast and everything. And plus, macros sometimes don't work if you don't close this window or you didn't exit this or something. And you also end up in differen't groups with you head out to gain exp. So I expect that you'll be changing your macros often. I dunno about everyone, but I feel better by doing it all manual, so i can see with spells I have to wait for recast and everything else.
If you were wondering how I do it with macros here ya go::

          -thf pulls mob
          -f8
-click anywhere on screen which opens the box
          -magic
          -gravity and enfleeble spells
          -Refresh, haste, dispel and etc

I just keep my main target on the mob, so i can see if the mobs hp is still at 75% and the whm's mp is at 50% I help heal a lot more.
I just don't trust macros, I tried it.. Didn't like "messing up" or "my macro didn't work" in groups. But it all depends on the player. Hope that helped you out.

I setup my Cure macros as <stpc> but I've run into a problem with it. When doing this, I can't set up a line that lets the party know that I'm healing a member (I do this to avoid making the WHM waste mana). What happens is a line that winds up giving the targets name (usually a mob) while I'm curing a party member. Any way to fix this?

Edit: Found out how to do it, just input <lastst> as your <t> in your cure macro.

Just my opinion, but I hate those /p messages in most macros. Almost always unnecessary. The very next line after whatever the macro is, the game is going to tell everyone anyway.

Party: I have hands of God! I'm healing Taco! <call5>
Seph1r0rth has started casting Cure on Taco.

The WHM's job is to heal, he should be on top of it. When backup healing I always hesitate a second to see who the WHM is healing and with what. I act accordingly. If the tank is totally under control I hit non-tank melees with Regens or Cures as necessary. If I ever start casting the same thing the WHM is, like a Cure I on someone without much HP lost, I'll move to interrupt it. There's enough chat spam with damage readings, buff/debuff/enfeeble messages, TP calls, etc., there doesn't need to be even more. I used to use /p to announce enfeebles (/p <t> --- Slow + Paralyze + Blind, as example), but I don't do that anymore. That's my job anyway, people don't need to know I'm doing it.

Also, when your macro lags or doesn't work and you mash it ten times in a desperate situation and the party sees

Party: I have hands of God! I'm healing <stpc>! <call5>
Party: I have hands of God! I'm healing <stpc>! <call5>

              It's a bit irritating.

              My two cents.

                    I have:
                    1) 2hr ability + dezone
                    2) /p "Converting, cure me please" + convert

Everything else I do manually so far, but I'm thinking to make some macros soon so I can have more time to watch the battle log.

i know this is a lot off topic but if u wanna be able to see the log better just filter out the following

                      others attacks
                      others missed

and anything that doesnt consern ur group/party of urself

i also have to battle screen as both on-screen and log.
Every dead body that is not exterminated, gets up and kills. The people it kills, get

I've got on my ctrl set
                        (1) Dia + Gravity(or whatever opening enfeebles I use)
                        (2) Cure I
                        (3) Cure II
                        on my Alt set
                        (1) WS1
                        (2) WS2
                        (3) WS3
                        ...
                        ...
                        ...
                        ...
                        ...
                        (9) MP/TP Report

I know that I don't have a lot, and I should prolly put some elementals up there.. but I dunno, with all these enfeebles I always end up forgetting which ones I want to use, so I end up just picking them fairly quickly with the menu.

Alt+1 - MP equip and Convert
                          2 - INT equip and /target <bt>
                          3 - MND/MP equip and Cure II <stpc>
                          4 - Protect III <stpc> Shell III <lastst>
                          5 - INT equip and Nuke #1
                          6 - INT equip and Nuke #2
                          7 - INT equip and Blind <bt>
                          8 - Refresh <stpc>
                          9 - INT equip and Dispel <bt>
                          0 - Dia II <bt>

If I'm soloing, I change the Haste macro to phalanx, haste, and enchant me. The nuke macros change according to the renkei element.

I couldn't find a way to squeeze all the spells I needed in one macro set. Ctrl 2 and Alt 2 allow me to change to MND or INT equipment and target the monster so I can choose a spell manually.
