  • Question about Kuftal

This is no rant (could be partial), wanted to ask about one of the camping spot in Kuftal. The place I am talking about is the crab camp near the Terrigan Area change place where the steep ramp is.

The question is when my group went over to the camp there were already 1 PT in there. Needless to say last saturday when I was exping My group was in that spot and another group came over to the camp. Which we have not complained. How ever this time when they saw us setting a camp in there, they sighed, they said uh... and such. After like 2 kills they asked us to move to another camp since the mages were lagging. Now thats was my first time I heard anything liket his. I mean in qufim, I lag like mad. In Kazam I lag like mad, but never heard of the reason to ask another party since the mages are LAGGING... Since the other camp I knew was at the entrance from Western Althepa there was a bst and a rdm kiting a NM, and probably they were after lizards too, we haven't moved.

Things became bad and some people started to throw out personal attacks toward some people (I am ashamed that I got involed partly on this since one of the other group's thief told one of my friend Damn gimped elvaan mage. I couldn't resist but to tell him to shut up). Considering the fact that it took 1hour to bring my group in that camp spot... and my time was very much running short I suggested to stay here and compete with the spawns. Not that there aren't enough crabs around here.

So is this camping spot actually for just 1 PT? And was I doing the wrong thing to stay in there? Answers are apretiated.

P.S. Our group was pretty new to the area. Some died in the middle since sneaked wore off and had to tractor them towards the camp. Also our thief decided to open a coffer since he found it. He failed and died too... Whcih caused some trouble. Not annoyed with that, well yes a little... I died once trying to sleep a crab. And had a misfortune of mob waking up just after I converted... some of other party was simply laughing at my corpse, as well as doing purpose misstell like 220xp O.o! Etc... These were full NA group. But I won't blame NA people since my group was mostly NA people too. We took a long time in reaching the camp, and my exp yesterday was -400 but at the end they performed well.

If they came when you're already there then there's no point for them to complain...

I'll just /blist them and leave them alone. best to not get in touch with those kind of people anyway

First come first serve. I've done that with smalltime nms and camps. If somone is there, I don't compete. I even did this with Lich Papyrus and Exoray Mold.

I'd tell them straight up that I wouldn't consider moving at all. I'd also tell them that if they want to be in the damage radius of the crabs bubble attack thats fine.

First thing I thought was why the other PT asked you to move when you were there first. Geez, next thing they'll ask you to powerlevel them...it's not like your PT did anything wrong. For them to demand that you move is just ludicrous.

Discordian brings up another point though - is there really such a thing as an established camp in FFXI? From my experiences, if it doesn't have a purple name then it's fair game to anyone, no matter what the target is. Even though I'll personally not compete for something if someone else is already there, not every player will do the same as it's not considered as against the rules.

There are several good spots in kuftal, provided that a certain large wyvren isn't running around. However, the spot you chose is also particularly dangerous with people possibly training crabs to that entrance on their way to sorrows or terrigan.

I also find it an excellent way to raise darkness skill, as I found out when I tractored 3 people half way across the zone.

I don't walk into someone's camp spot. That's their game and they were there first. My typical group that I party with all have the same agreement so if some place is already staked out we'll find someplace else to hunt or do something different. I don't like stepping into someone elses area unless its for refreshing sneak and invisible, and thats not long because I kind of expect the same when it comes to me.

First of all, as for the camping spot for leveling, I agree with Discordian. Therefore, we should always search where we go in advance so that we won't waste our time.

                Second,
So is this camping spot actually for just 1 PT?
It is possible for two parties to camp there but they may eat up all crabs around very soon if they are both well-organized. They can still pull crabs from a distance but it should be risky for pullers.

Kuftal and CN were always crowded and laggy and we often went to Boyahda and Garlaige.
Some died in the middle since sneaked wore off and had to tractor them towards the camp.
Any non-mage players after LV50 should bring oils and powders whenever they go to where either Sneak or Invisible is needed so that they won't waste any time before they get to the camp.

I hate to hear someone making an excuse like, "I can't afford to buy them..." We, Mages, spend much more money on stats+ gears and magic spells. Why can't they? (?L?EƒÖ?E?M)

I play during jp primetime but there is usually 2 pt's at each zone out (terrigan and altepa). We would get a link on occasion but the other pt would take it once it became unclaimed from being put to sleep.
I actually like the place more than boyhada which seems to be overcrowded or there are tons of BST taking up all the spawns.

                    Delayed post bleh... sorry.

I agree with Discordian and Apple pie. Thanks for the imput. I usually see my party telling other parties that, We will take this part, thank you. Usually JP party doesn't mind, however NA does. Ironic but they do... But when it comes to them, no they don't tell us that the will take that part. Guess it is cultural difference.

I have discovered why they don't camp in the Lizard field last weekend. The NM LIzard Anemona? forgot name spawns there and its very contestant. We were hunting there and we realised there were some lag going on... looked around and we saw 4 PTs wiping lizards. They also were doing crabs aswell which was what we were after. Ended up with 30+ people in there with me having constant 1700 in R which ended up leaving since it was almost unplayable.

Yes I usually see 2 PT in Terrigan and Althepa zone lines... guess I was bumped with ATTITUDE PROBLEM PT in there. Its scary to know they are reaching high lvls. At least I know a whm and thf who won't be ever in my PT

I just add names to my "<no raise > </blacklist >" which is a couple pieces of paper with 177 names of people that arn't getting a raise because of various cicrumstances and situations. I'm a very easy going fellow but when I see a level 48 make a train on Wights 3 times (and obviously on purpose) to the Dekfut Tower then he's getting a GM call and going on the list.

I really dislike people who show up in other "camps" and just lag people out cuz they wanna be there. Oddly enough I find it is groups who are really inefficent and play shitty anyway, so they aren't accomplishing much besides sitting there lagging you out. It used to make me wonder if everyone just had a substantially better pc than I do, because having 2-3 groups around me killing stuff is pretty damn laggy, any more than that is unbearable, but I've just come to the conclusion they are stupid.

Fact is most places do have a lot of good spots to set up camp at. Similar thing happened to me in Boyahda around 56 where my group was on one of those small ledges by the ponds with the big trees in the middle and another group came and sat right on top of us on that small ledge with a whopping 18 people our level in the area. First off there is bare minimum 2 other "ok" camp spots open if there are 18 people in the zone of the same level. Their response was they liked that spot. The stupidity people display is amazing really.

At least in my opinion its rude to sit on top of people and sometimes risky depending what you fight when all you have to do is shift down a couple steps most times and everything would be fine. Just a shame people don't use common sense and would rather be confrontational and rude just because they can.
