I can assure you this statement is untrue as far as it concern normal damage per shot.
Archery and Marksmanship have the same mechanic

All use STR for damage in normal shot. When it comes to WS's it gets a little different, but adds on rather than changing everything. Primary modifier for both archery and marksmenship is STR. And unless there's some off the wall ws (besides the one that gives mp) that I don't know of, STR is the primary modifier for all ws's. WS's also have a secondary modifier or in some cases modifiers. For achery the secondaries are STR and AGi, and just AGI for marksmenship (I could be wrong on that it could jsut be STR for archery and both for marksmenship, I can never remember exactly which way it is).
Anyway, yes, /WAR is >>> /NIN for most things. Its still useful in certain situations (I still use if for some assaults and dynamis). Just learn to control your hate and you'll be fine. Only time /NIN is really necessary for merits is in ammo burn parties (assuming you can find one). Plus, /WAR is way more fun.

Yes, Archery WS (except Relic) have STR 16% + AGI25%, while Marksmanship WS have AGI30%.
Archery always have advantage when it comes to secondary modifier

        Compare it this way :
        STR16% + AGI25% (Archery )
        AGI 5% + AGI25% (Marksmanship)

For marksmanship WS to have its AGI5% be larger than STR16%, their AGI must be 3.2x higher than its STR, which is kinda impossible you'd want to use that setup in real situation.
You'll usually end up stacking STR everywhere instead of AGI

Caspian, that sounds about right. Would be kinda like Dancing Edge, it has a 30% CHR secondary modifier, but you'd have to whore out in +CHR to get any real benefit from it. Thanks much!

Thank you guys for the help in solving that issue =D So I'll just buff Str for the majority of my gear for WSs. I still have +Agi of course. But at least now I know =)

Re: What are these Quotes & Myths about the RNG job?

Wow this is awesome information but I just want to get a layman's generalization of it all for people who are new to the ranger class.

            In non end-game/merit situations:

Aim for higher WS damage than regular attack damage
+STR is generally better than +AGI for WS and Regular damage for Bows and Xbows
/war is the choice for damage (although more risky in terms of hate/aggro)
Have the capability to use Bow, Xbow, and Gun for different mobs (eg. Bones)
/nin deals less damage meaning less of a worry of aggro with the addition of Utsusemi

Finally I just want to ask for a Ranger starting fresh, what are the stats that I should aim for (gear wise) in order of importance?
