kk i tested both crimson and kote again today on kirin again.
      result:

      optical hat
      2x hawker+1
      rng necklace
      genin/drone earring
      mermaid rings
      osode
      crimson feet
      war brais+1
      RK belt+1
      amemit+1

      Kote:
regular shots:124 cap and pretty much average
Slug shots : 765 cap and also average

      Crimson:
      regularshot: also 124 cap/avg
      slug:740 cap/avg

i switched francisca in there to for a hawkers..pretty much same results on kirin

      BUT!
i asked a bard for STR etudes with kote on
      results:
      regular hits:130-135 avg
      slugs : 800-810
there in proves that str is a modifier for dmg on ws or regular shots

Nobody who knows the damage formula would dispute that STR is an important factor in both regular attacks and WS. The only people who would say such a ridiculous thing is someone who didn't fully read my explanation of the damage formula.

STR is *always* a factor in determining damage (notably in the STR-VIT check). What throws people off is that they see that markmanship WS only has AGI has a *secondary modifier*. This is an additional modifier, and it does not mean that only AGI factors into markmanship damage.

To Dan: I understand what you're saying (when you were referring to the allakhazam data), but I also think that whether RATK or AGI makes more difference in damage may depend on the mob type. Perhaps when a monster's DEF is above a certain point, the AGI+15 makes more of a difference than the RATK+10. This is purely speculation but may offer some possibilities for the data presented in this thread as opposed to the data in the allakhazam thread.
I believe in karma. Anyone I treat badly probably deserved it.

The main objection I would make to that is that if you are talking about a super high DEF mob (e.g. gods), then your secondary modifiers from WS are going to be hit very hard by your RATK/DEF ratio anyway. If the mob has enough DEF that it would check as "high defense" (if you could check NMs, that is), then the total added damage from 15 AGI is going to be ~10 points or less. The normal damage variance of Slug/Side makes such a small difference very difficult to verify.

Hm that's a good point. Not really sure what we can attribute to such a wide variance in damage, except perhaps the fault of a small sampling size. It's still possible that ~10 damage variance is greater than the potential increase by 10 more RATK (esp if their DEF >> your RATK), but it's true that would be hard to verify. I still think the priority of RATK vs AGI may depend on the target you're fighting, but more data/sampling is probably necessary before making any kind of conclusion.
