I'm curious as to your reasoning for why the patch made the Ebow better than Hellfire+1. Is r. atk > base damage now? The extra ranged accuracy from hellfire I think would be even more important now. Dont get me wrong. I'm not endgame and I realize the jury was still out on what was better for different instances endgame. I had previousy understood +r. atk was moot on gods and such, and greater base dmg was more important. If in all instances Ebow is proven and parsed to be better than all other, then so much the better. Its price is rapidly falling on Fairy and is back to 10 million and still going down. Post your parses though. I'm curious to see the dmg differences when I get back from vacation. (I suppose you'll say when you post them, but are these from different situations? All xp? Gods only?) Looking forward to seeing them.

The main reason why the Ebow people believe its better than hellfire is that now if you are not in optimial range your dmg drop is significant. I can go frmo 350 dmg to 200 dmg if I am at the far end of my range away from the perfect spot.

Bows have a longer Optimal range, so it is easier to adjust. Gun have a tighter Optimal Range, most believe it is *right* outside melee range. There for on things like God and HNMs, they rather use the Bow to give more room for error.

2. agreed on the range thing, and its true, hellfire's delay is horrid, actually exspecting any of your shots to land from the sweet spot is laughable on mobs that arnt stationary(anything being kited) and the word was still out on ebow vs hellfire+1 on gods, and this could never be parsed correctly because opf the lack of full archery merrited rangers(everyone merrited marks for god fights that i know)

3. price and worth have nothing to do with each other, ebow was 30 mil and now its 2 mil, who the fook cares, i got one with no intention of ever letting go of it if it drops to 3 gil i'll be estatic i still have one if it goes up to 100 mil(i'll bet anyone on titan the price drop is a result of loser rng's quitting, plp want this bow more then ever now, Good luck tryna get one for the reduced price) i will never sell.

4. ebow was always and still is the king of xp.


* its very easy to see the worth of rangedt attack after the patch, go test gendawa+1 vs shingetto+1 on a god and you'll see the gend get blown out of the water when pre update that wasnt the case at all* (blown out the water is relative)

Cool, I didnt know that much engame stuff had changed (in relation to some weapons now being better than others). Agreed, Ebow is just becoming a steal now. I'd always figured it was due to the fanboy rangers dropping the job and the equip. Endgame, ebow > shigeto+1?

well cas maybe you should go out and do some testing..

pre-post ive always thought lower delay with high pershot and ws dmg = "the best" but hey some like super long delay(hellfire=1) and some like no base stat boost(gend+1) and others just like freebies(obow)

i'm of the thought that w/e weapon you use is only 1/16th of how well you will perform(on paper) i mean w/o equips to back up your main weapon doesnt matter if you use a relic bow your gonna suck it up in dmg.

Would if I could. Only lvl 50 and still farming up for E-bow. At this point I'm still dependant on the advice from higher lvl's until I can get there to find out for myself.

From what I understand, noct+1 is really your best option until Seiryu's kote (sp?) or Crimson/Blood finger gauntlets. I'm hume so I've thought about trying out Custom gloves for the str+ boost, see if that helps any.

As far as /nin or /war, I've gotten opinions from both sides of thinking. Some swear they cant hit nearly as accurate pre 70 w/o /nin and sushi, some swear their dmg is too pitiful with /nin and that their accuracy is just fine with /war. Until the jury returns with a verdict, guess its best to err on the side of caution and just off my ass and lvl both.

/war with sushi is not smart for anything other then gods IMO...
(you lose the entire point of subbing war.

my 72 ranger/nin does better with attack food then my 72 rng/war could ever hope to do with sushi.

yes, yes, yes, and yes wear those hume RSE gloves asap and full time, they are much better then anything you can wear untill lvl 73(crimsons)

Knowing your use of parsers, I'm guessing you took overall accuracy etc. into account b/w /war and sushi vs. /nin and curry. Have to get my rse gloves next time I'm able to quest it.

If by always, you mean never, then I agree.

From 55-59 Musketeer Gun +1/+2 just outclasses E-bow.
From 60-66 it's arguable, but given that you are normally fighting relatively high-level mobs at this stage, I'd still prefer gun.
From 67+ O-bow owns all.

I believe he's posting here after following the thread explaining the difference b/w ranged delay and melee delay I linked on KI (Seems odd to me how much more active their ranger forum is their, yet tests and such are so rarely seen there, I suppose I've been spoiled by Rugal, Apple Pie, and Dan's posts from yesteryear). Most likely this was the first time, or near first time that he's been here since Dan posted his message.
