Do you mean the cap imposed by the food, or natural cap?

First off, you will NEVER EVER EVER hit natural damage cap on monsters you xp on. Natural damage cap refers to the default ATK<->DEF check and the STR<->VIT check. Once again, you will never reach this on monsters you xp on. If you raise your STR and notice no difference, it is not because you hit a damage cap. If you are fighting crabs or other high DEF/VIT monsters, it just means you are not adding enough STR/ATK to make a noticeable difference. Remember crabs are paladin type monsters, in terms of job traits; they have Def UP traits every 10-20 levels just like PLDs, with naturally high VIT.

Now, I believe there is an attack cap from food, meaning you can only increase ATK to a certain point using food, right? If you're referring to this cap, I'd assume the same type of cap would exist for RNG ATK... but this is pure speculation.

no these were two different replys.

i was irst confused about how you check the cap for food (say yellow curry has a cap of 250 {fake example} is that 250 the number next to your def?

i have no way to check total rng attack because it doesnt show it anywhere.

i was just stating that im noticing alot more rng attack items on rangers, and more and more rngs have 0 hawkers or trailors equiped and equip rng attack weapons only.

and about the natural rng attack cap (nothing to do with food)

if you never can hit your rng attack on xp mobs (serious question) then why couldnt i do more then 110 a hit on robber crabs in kuftal at level 54-55?? even with savage gaitors, and even when crabs gave me str down i still hit for 110 and 137 respectively.

btw i always ate curry back then.

My post wasn't in direct response to anyone in particular. Just dispelling the notion that some people have that you can hit your natural damage cap during xp. Caps imposed by food, maybe. But that only pertains to attack/rng attack, not STR anyway.

Like you say, if you increased or decreased STR yet your damage stays the same, that makes you think you hit a cap. But nope, there's no way your STR is high enough compared to a VT-IT crab or whatever to hit a cap. If you get a STR down and your damage stays the same, it's likely you are at the MINIMUM cap (i.e. your STR < its VIT).

At lvl 40 what is the best food to eat? + r. atk or + r. acc.?
-if +r. atk., which one? curry? dahlmel whatever?
Is the sushi really only necessary once you hit 55?

            Gear is the usual:
dual archers (hawkers in a month or so)
noct +1 gear cept for boots (custom M boots)
lvl 40 bow (battle bow?) +1
            scorp arrows
            horn rings +1 x2
            drone earrings x2
            ranger necklace
            nomad mantle
            merc cpt belt

dont know why I put all that, just seeing if anyone remembers all the + r. atk. and + r. acc. on this stuff (might make a difference on which would be more beneficial)
            thanks

              a bit curious. Right now I'm 25Rng.

I'm using only 1 R. acc ring and a +2STR ring and been eating Baugreen Saute for 15 R Acc. They seem to work fine at lower levels.

Later on will it be better if I get rid of STR ring and go for 2 range acc rings? and eat +R attack food? Is R attack better than STR over all?

AT my level I can't see any difference yet but I'd like to know which direction I should go for higher levels too. thanks.

As I understand it, the best +str rings give what +3? I think there may be a +5 somewhere? You can get that from sole sushi I think it is (could be wrong but I'm pretty sure one of the sushis gives +5 str) which equals what you would get from a str ring as well as using a +r. acc ring instead, as well as getting the +r. acc from sushi. I'm guessing this is how it is later on seeing how I'm not aware of any ring that gives more than 5 str, but the later r.acc rings give from 7 up to 11 or 12 r.acc on one ring. Seeing how beetle rings dont give much r.acc I dont see a problem with only using 1 and a str ring on the other hand but it seems the growth rate as you lvl on r.acc is much greater than str rings.
Again, this is purely conjecture and I could be way off on the availability of str rings later on but I do believe this is how it works.

flame rings give +5 str, rubys give +4 str. Both are lvl 70+ rings. Sushi just adds on top of that.

later on mobs gain a lot of evasion and rngs gain access to alot of racc stuff also.

Thanks for input. Ranger has been a blast I'm now 44 and because the best STR ring I can get only gives +3, I switched to +R.Acc rings instead. Also as soon as I can hold my 2 archer knifes at level 28 my WS hit rate has gone up from 25% to 90% without having to eat sushi

So I switched my food to Dhalmel pie and Dhalmel steak and I'm seeing noticable damage improvement. Bows from 50 a shot to 60-70, Xbow damage jumped from 40/shot to 80ish with holy bolts

Nin Blm Rng Rng Rng Rng at level 30. By the end of the PT We are all 36-37. Was a moment of joy
The first beetle we killed in Althepa was so easy I was expecting 30-40 exp but wooooot 200 easy!
Moved to GL and see how we were doing.

Yeah, at my level now I rely more on food for accuracy (If I need it) otherwise if I'm at a good rate then I use my r. attack foods more.

At LV40 I personally liked +R. Attack foods, if you are going that route then at lv. 40 it's probably best to use Dhalmel Pies, Curry is better later on. The food I'm looking into possibly trying, just got to remember to get it sometime and try it is Boiled/Roated Pipira.

Supposedly that food gives +r. acc and +r. att and it's rated for what would be about lv 60+ in r. att. If it really does do that then that'll probably be the best food, given that it's at a resonable price.

                      EDIT:

Not sure if that food really does that, it changes site by site on what each of these foods do that it's tough to say.

                        hmm let's see.

                        Roast Pipira

Mystery tour and ffrecipe list the same effects : 3Dex, -1Mnd, 14%Att 14%R.Att (Att cap 85 @ mystery tour)

Allakhazam lists everything the same except no R.Att.

Somepage is the only site with 10%R.Acc added to this food. and Att cap 50.

Just my personal preference, but I trust ffrecipe more than anywhere else. Roast pipira is also only a skill 21 recipe so I don't think it's meant for end game use at 60+ ?

Rice Dumplings are skill 95 and Dhalmel Pie is skill 75, and yet Dhalmel Pie is better. Your point is?

Like already said and you just now showed each states different things for the same food. Which is why I said if it does what any says, I only use websites for suggestion never assume it as fact until I've tried it.

I have this feeling that food gives bonuses related to the skill needed to make them  So my initial thought is that a food at skill 21 can't be good for level 60+ range. Just what I feel.

Ehh, don't know Meat Mithkabob is pretty good I think and it's 38 skill cap. Seems a bit low to me for such a good food. Many of the others to give that same amount that Meat Mithkabob does are around 80s also, so skill is tough to always say it seems with food. It's definatly apparent in many other crafts though.
