  • RNG/RDM Any Good?

I've been checking out threads, looking for a good sub for RNG, and I've seen people suggest RNG/WAR, RNG/NIN, RNG/SAM, although, I've seen very little on RNG/RDM

I haven't really read anything to really answer my question, just how good is RDM as a sub for Ranger?

the reason you don't see anything about it should tell you something... IT SUCKS!

    Thanks Yyg!

Just about the worst sub out there for it, Rdm Agi/Str progression sucks so it would'nt really boost anything for Rng. And you wont have much mp. Ppl would rather have a rdm/xxx in a party than a rng/rdm, just get yourself a nin or war sub.

Ok, realize i'm posting this *PURELY* from the devil's advocate position. I still feel /NIN is absurdly superior to it for pretty much any role, but...

I don't think it's *that* bad if you're willing to spend absurdly large amounts of money on MP regen drinks and/or ethers. At 64 (66? I'm not a RDM, I don't know the levels), you get access to phalanx, and you'll also have blink to absorb melee hits, regen, cure III, etc. etc. etc.

Do you have a small & shitty MP pool? Definately. Can you dual wield hawkers knives? Of course not. Are you going to land any enfeebles? If the moon phase is right, with the right day, and the wind's blowing the right direction, maybe on a TWTBW mob. Is it absolute trash for all situations? Maybe not.

RDM's get access to Phalanx way before 64.

                  Phalynx is RDM 33.

Sub it at 66, with a half-assed Enhancing Magic, for a near useless effect. (maybe shave 6 or 7 points off... if that...) Completely not worth it.

Yeah, but /RDM is MP used you can rest and recover that. You can't do that with /NIN and Silent pots.

If you really are trying for a sub to give RNG some spell power, then probably RNG/DRK is better for that. Just realize that anything you as sub of a mage like to a melee the spells are not going to be that great regardless.

With RNG/DRK though at least your are getting 2 attack bonuses with it all. Stun is quite a good one for RNGs too since usually it's special attacks that really do a number on us. Then if you actually succeed in Absorb-VIT or Absorb-AGI then more power for you to use.

Out of all the mage like ones RNG/DRK is probably the only one that is somewhat creditable if you want to really use it in an EXP party. Otherwise I like RNG/RDM when I'm runing around for a chest or when I did AF2 that came really handy, I outlasted the RNG/NIN at that simply because MP is restorable and an item is not without purchasing it.

Ohh... You took me literaly. I'm sorry. Should have said that with a bit of sarcasm.

But in all honesty, why would you sub any "mage type" under RNG? Stun you wont get until 74, and even so, in a situation where you're protecting the RNG (such as Dynamis, gods, other "end game stuff") you probably aren't going solo. Thus, you'd have a DRK or BLM to stun for you. Or even a RDM/DRK.

Out of all the mage like ones RNG/DRK is probably the only one that is somewhat creditable if you want to really use it in an EXP party.
O.o {Um...} {Excuse me...} {What?} 1/2 lvl Dark Magic will hardly even dent the IT mobs your exp'ing off. I'd think it'll be more of a hinderance, then a help. Abs-AGI has its uses... but not when its +1, if you even get it off.

                            lol ^^

if you give RDM AF hat a green color tho I'm sure it will suite Ranger so well.
