  • Who wants to solo RNG?

Hi there. Now I'm just curious, I know most people probably dont hesitate to just try to find a party with RNG. However, I've recently taken it upon myself to try to solo RNG as high as I can just to see how far I can go. All of this has been done as RNG/WHM unless otherwise specified. Here is my current plan:

1-10: I went through these levels as you usually would. My area of choice was around West Ronfaure, and moving into La Theine as those mobs got too weak. This was pretty easy.

10-14: I guess there's a possibility to go to Maze of Shakrami here and fight worms, but I went to Ghelsba instead because I felt like farming fire crystals. There's a nice little area here next to a creek that has EM-T orcs. If you ever get in trouble or have any links you can just jump into the creek and orcs stop chasing you. I also got a little bit of 13-14 by joining a party in valk, so I guess I cheated a little.

14-20~: I went ahead and went to Korroloka Tunnel at 14. It was really damn hard to kill the worms here at this level, but I managed to get to 15 so far. And that's where I'm at now. I tried a few worms after hitting 15 and they are much easier to kill now.

20-25: Probably go to Quifim around the pond and level off worms there. Maybe stay here a little longer so that I'm set for what I'm going to do next.

25-?: This is where is gets a little easier, because of BLOODY BOLTS. The next step is going to Kazham. There are probably good alternatives to this, but its just too easy soloing mandy's with bloddy bolts. I think I might even be able to get up to 34-35 here soloing(I actually soloed a couple levels with my THF from 33-35 here, so I know its definitely possible with RNG).

My question to everybody else, is have you soloed RNG? If so, how far were you able to take it solo? I know after Yuhtunga/Yhoatar you can probably go to Altepa and fight some worms there, but they get significantly harder. Also, whenever you get a little higher level would it be more wise to bring /NIN sub, to blink out the lesser spells from worms? Or is it more useful to just still bring WHM. Bloody Bolts might negate the need for any healing(not sure, I have only used them with the low accuracy of THF). Anyways, any input is appreciated, as well as any alternative leveling areas I might try. Thanks.

i can't put a great deal of input into this. time is tight. i will say that as soon as you hit 24 you'll want to sub ninja. you'll want to eat every spell except stonega spells (which you can run out of range of, if you're paying attention). much better than whm sub.

i think, technically you can solo your way to 75, but with a lot of pain and money wasted.

Cool I noticed this myself that I can run out of range of a stonega if I pay good enough attention. Sometimes the damn guys still land it on me though, but having the shadows eat bind would really help. It seems most of the time I'm eating a Stonega because I'm bound. Thanks for the input, I'll definitely try out your suggestions.

Saw a 39 RNG soloing worms in Attowa Chasm (sp?). Im guessing they are good for a few more lvls after that as well.

From my own experience, please take that as you will

At 20 to 27/28 is a good place to stay in Qufim Island. The reason why I say this is because you can fight worms up to level 25, sub NIN to 25 to avoid eatting so many spells. However, at level 25 sub BLM. Please listen and do not flame. The reason for this is because at 25 you have access to Bloody Bolts which will make up for basically any damage you take. Also by subbing BLM you have access to Blaze Spikes, which deals 7 damage unresisted and 3 damage when resisted but from most of my fights Blaze Spikes alone deals around 100 to 150 damage in a single fight. After 25, worms and even the crabs can be fought. I suggest you have decent enough gear for some added defense. I personally ate Fish Mithakakbobs so I wouldn't take so much damage when crabs used Big Scissors.

At 28, leave the BLM sub behind and begin the sub of NIN and head over to Yhutange Jungle. The reason for this is the accuracy +2 from 2 archery knives (usable at 28) is way way noticeable then just 1. Also the NIN sub allows you to use Tonko so you can explore the jungle more looking for mandys. The reason why you need 2 knives is because the mandys hit hard and fast and you need to land as many Bloody Bolts as you can on them so you can makeup the damage.

At 32, head over to Yhotar Jungle for the mandys. I'm currently at level 33 so this all I can say for now.

BTW, a few things I suggest you do.

            1) Fire acid bolts at the beginning of each fight and keep defense down on the mobs
            2) Use Acid Bolts for your WS as the damage from using Acid Bolts and Holy Bolts in a WS is practically the same
            3) Use Holy Bolts for Barrage, I made my macro like this

            Barrage:
            /equip ammo "Holy Bolt"
            /ja "Sharpshot" <me>
            /wait 1
            /ja "Barrage" <me>
            /wait 1
            /shoot <t>

The reason I put Sharpshot in their is because I want all 4 hits to connect for my TP gain so I can fire off another WS for more damage.

Oh and I fire my WS at 100% - 120% because damage at 3 100% TP is greater then 1 300% TP from the tests I've done myself.

            4) There is not point in casting Utsusemi after level 25. It's a waste of nin tools because the mobs will rip them off easily
            5) Keep scavenger up, everything you scavenge is very good

            Example:
            In Qufim Island:
            Ash Lumber
            Arrowwood Lumber
            Firesand

            In the Jungles:
            Ash Lumber
            Arrowwood Lumber
            Firesand
            Holy Bolt Heads

Of course there is other crap, but those are the most useful for me as the Ash Lumber helps for making more bolts

Well have fun and hope I helped a bit ^^

I found this somewhere a while ago:

Lv1-7 kill Stone Eaters at King Ranperre's Tomb
These are easy but stay near zone and you might have to get an escort down here at lv1 through East Ronfaure.

Lv7-13 Kill Rock Eaters and/or Earth Eaters at La Theine PlateauThese are near the small lake near the Crag-Holla, also in those big holes.

Lv10-20 Kill Maze Makers at Maze of Shakhrami
These are right outside entrance but watch out for the gobies and if u go off a bit more, they also spawn there but be very careful around night since Ghoul WILL ALWAYS SPAWN inside this little house.

Lv20-25 Kill Land Worms at Qufim IsleEasy they spawn near entrance also all around the lake but again becareful when it hits night. Skeletons and Ghosts.

WARNING: Here After is where the Prism Powder and the Silent Oil comes in.

Lv25-30 Kill Ore Eater at Gusgen Mines
Its fairly easy if you get a good camp so you can run to where no mobs will agro you to rest after 1 fight.

Lv25-30 Kill Abyss Worm back at Maze of ShakhramiAbyss worms are pretty far into the Maze but the prism and silent should get you there.

The rest I really don’t have anything to say but be careful mobs in the next places are hard. So stay as close as possible as you can to zone. And don’t forget to use your Prism Powder and Silent Oil.

Lv25-30 Kill Amphisbaena at Gusgen Mines

Lv30-39 Kill Flesh Eaters at East Altepa Dessert

Lv39-46 Kill Dessert Worms at West Altepa Dessert

Lv46-57 Kill Sand Eaters at Quicksand Caves

Lv57-70 Kill Phantom Worms, Cave Worms, and Kuftal Diggers at Kuftal Tunnel.
Edit : Wow, just realised this was last replied to over 2 weeks ago. People don't post here very often do they? It was still near the top of the first page ><

I soloed most of 40-44 in West Altepa. Keep in mind the worms only come out at night (19:00-06:00 I believe), so I'd recommend you craft or read (do anything) during the day time while the worms are gone. If you happen to eat a -ga spell, just bloody bolt yourself back to full health and keep going. I was able to chain 3 consistently, so the exp made was pretty impressive, from 200-280 per kill. At 44, the exp starts to divebomb pretty bad though, so if you do plan on following the guide above, the end-levels of each bracket will likely take you a bit of time.
