Do you use that +STR gear while gaining TP or only for WS, also how is your Acc with that for sidewinder Allen?

Well the reason why your sidewinder dmg dipped from 850-1000 to 500-700 is b/c archery ws are mostly based off of STR & AGI. Whereas ws dmg from marksmanship is based solely off of AGI.
If it isnt too much trouble try using hellfire on kirin and try the same experiment and see if the dmg dips as low as it did for archery.
with hellfire+1 & silver bullets I do consistent 755 per slug on kirin. on the slug that i crit, i do around 950-1000 w/o 2x minuets.
I dunno, maybe next kirin i'll just go in there naked with only STR+ equips and see how much dmg it takes off my slug and then go all AGI+ equips to see the difference in dmg.RNG 75 / DRG 75 / NIN 75 / WAR 73 / THF 46 / SAM 39 / BLM 31 / WHM 31 / DRK 17 / BST 15 / MNK 12 / BRD 9 / SMN 8 / PLD 5 / RDM 5

dmg vs rolanberry bee with +24 str = 551
dmg vs rolanberry bee with +14 str = 551
(slug shot damage on these too inconsistant around 3500-4100)
this number doesnt seem to change at all. in both instances using the same gun. I think dmg is capped depending on the enemy's relative lvl to yours.

As I understand it, the player STR - enemy VIT part of the damage equation is capped based on the D of your main ranged weapon; it does not take into account the D of your ammo. If you use a bow instead of a gun (or try the test against higher level mobs) you should notice a difference when you add more STR.Originally posted by Finny

i've tried the double minu on kirin today and my max dmg slug was 1229.
my stats were str+19 agi+39 with hellfire+1 and silver bullets.
forgot to go all str gear and agi gear >.>;;RNG 75 / DRG 75 / NIN 75 / WAR 73 / THF 46 / SAM 39 / BLM 31 / WHM 31 / DRK 17 / BST 15 / MNK 12 / BRD 9 / SMN 8 / PLD 5 / RDM 5

WINGED BOOTS/MITHRAN RSE BOOTS <---Now im leaning towards the rse boots full time now, i have switched them out in exp parties, and i noticed the damage big time on barrage, and the +3 str is just enough to push my normal ranged attacks into the 3 digit range.
I was just wondering if anyone would not chose +3 str over +3 agi +3 dex, when your a mithran ranger with as much ranged accuracy as i have.Why be like someone famous when you can be like me.

I had Leaping Boots and Savage Gaiters at the same level, and I didn't notice any damage difference when I had the RSE on, so I just wore Leaping Boots.

im not saying it increases it by 10 points of dmg, but it is a difference that i would prefer over the no difference i see going w/o boots or with the winged boots.
maybe i'll need the winged after i hit 55 and get sidewinder, but im not there yet, so who knows.Why be like someone famous when you can be like me.

you should really try hellfire and silver bullets. even though it has a horrid delay, i believe in the end, hellfire does more than bow. After this week's kirin i'll tell you how i did ;p. I wanna see this test on an Dc or higher mob, i know that would be hard, you being level 75 and all, but if its possible it might help me decide if setting up a str and agi equip macro would be worth it. <--- i already have two sets of gear for BLM, and im so full on 3 mules and my main character, i am eagerly awaiting this new gobbie bag, i mean 5 slots isnt alot, but it would actually let me hold enough ammo (yeah i have elemental staffs on me while lvling rng because im soo full lately)Originally posted by Finny

its possible to have 4 songs on at once?O.o the best I get is double prelude. str doesnt seem to affect regular hits that much, I had 64+24 str today as opposed to +14 and got 126 per hit. 3 extra damage for +10 str go figure.
btw I have to share this,
while kirin STARTS to cast stone V or quake:
sharpshot - barrage - slugshot - equip culverin - icarus wing - slugshot - renkei affect - shoot for barrage tp - eagle eye shot - slugshot - <Run Away!>
I got a full 5 hits 4.X k dmg from this, took like 7% of his life bar out in 10 seconds. got a rapid shot on the barrage =)
