  • Wow thats alot of farming -_-

Ok i reached 45 today and i was thinking of updating my equip.
    My current equip is:
    Noct beret+1
    Noct doublet+1
    ranger necklace
Custom M gloves (for the +3 str)
    Drone earrings
    Carapace rings+1
    bastokan cuisses
    bastokan greaves
    Battle bow +1
    Scorpion arrows
    wolf mantle+1
    archers knives

Ok so heres my problem, i know AF will be arriving fairly soonish.
But i feel i need too upgrade my equip as i have had this set up for ages apart from a few peices, such as rings.

I worked out that if i wanted too be the most super rng possible i would have too farm over 10mil >_<

What parts of my equip would you change?
For example i dont wanna spend 700k on a brigandine+1 only too wear if for a few levels when my noct doublet will do the trick.

Eventually do i wear all my AF when in an exp party?

    thanks.

You could definitely wear full AF in a PT, but AF doesnt cover every slot :p I personally think the gloves are cr*p unless im doing NMs or Soloing or something and would use my Noct Gloves +1. If you can maybe get Noct Legs +1, (regular is ok too i guess) just because the bastokan/republic set is only good if you are in your own nations area. Id also suggest a Nomads Mantle (or +1). At your lvl youd probably just be wasting money on Leaping and Emp since you get AF soon... youd have to get advice from someone else on that though since i have both from my THF days >.>

First of all, I think a lot of early RNG equipment is overrated and overpriced. A couple extra AGI will mean nothing. The most dramatic improvement in terms of equipment is definitely e-bow, so try to save up for that.

As for AF, I use Hat, Body, Legs, and use Noct+1 for hands and Striders for Feet. If I'm not pulling, I use AF for feet.

AGI upgrades mean hardly anything IMO. I do not believe 2 AGI = 1 RNG ACC. Nsx, the other RNG in my spt, has more AGI than me, I have more RNG ACC than him, if 2 AGI = 1 RNG ACC, we'd be almost even. However, my rng hit% is higher by 3-5% every PT. So if you want to make an upgrade, do it on a slot that adds rng acc.

For instance, a hawker instead of a nomad's mantle+1. Approximately same price, but hawker adds rng acc whereas nomad's+1 does not.

Like I said, the most dramatic improvements will come from your weapon (and peacock charm somewhat, since it increases your RNG ACC by 5 compared to rng necklace). I recommend not making any of the minor upgrades in order to save up for e-bow, but it's your call.

Offhand, it takes much more than 10mil to be a "super ranger" :p Well, at least on Midgardsormr. My gear is already 16+, I'd think that you'd need about 20+mil to have optimal equipment, and that doesn't include all the rare/ex stuff like kirin's osode, seiryuu's kote, certain AF2. I probably will never be a super ranger but it's fun to strive for a goal :p
I believe in karma. Anyone I treat badly probably deserved it.

Are Strider really that great? I mean i know they give +AGI and they increase movement speed by what, 12%?, but are they really worth it? If theya re its another 2M im gonig to have to make

Hm.. that's a tough call. IMO it's a selfish purchase and should only be made if you have that much spare money. It doesn't help your performance nor your PT that much.

I guess it helps when pulling fast mobs like raptors, but honestly even with striders those catch up to me :p Besides, if you sub /NIN, you have shadows to save you til you get back to camp.

So to answer your question, no I don't really believe they are worth it. But hell yes they are convenient.

It would only take me 2 extra days to farm up the gil for those with my THF, but even with flee on my THF raptors caught me... If it really only helps for raptors/tigers/Coeurl then i really dont think they would be worth it... but then again... getting to coffers faster may be worth it >< damn looks like i might spend more time farming, though after i get those ill be able to make money faster in theory.

*sigh* ok thanks for your input

Of all the reasonably cheap upgrades.. I would get..

              Brigandine
              Hawkers

RSE gloves are great, I still use them. AF gloves are also nice to have for macroing in for shadowbind, as well as for farming. They kick shadowbind duration up just enough for me to be able to finish off most middle lvl farmable mobs before they get to me.

All the other stuff is great if you can afford it, but you're really going to have to have deep pockets.

Striders and Ebow would be tough call between the 2 of them. Both are marked improvments, Ebow for damage, and striders for just to reduce the sheer amount of time you spend running around in this game.

thanks for the replys, it cleared things up a bit.
Moving from crawers nest too quicksand caves i have noticed a dramatic drop in in hit rate, so i think Ranged acc+ is gonna be my best option.
Hmm the E-bow sounds nice...will it last me till end game if i get it or is there a better bow later on?

I guess i could hold out till lvl 50 go rng/thf and farm my life away for a week or 2 -_-

strider are really just for looking pimp, and making people feel bad when you out run them(its why i bought them lol) if you had to choose between this and ebow, clearly the bow. ebow will easily last you to 70, IMHO to 75.

Dade was my inspiration to buy my e-bow. Watching him/her (sorry, you're mithra, and I consider them genderless  too many male mithra players...) massacre those bees and spiders in bcnm70's awed me. Now I'm also a mean lean e-bowing machine... well as lean as a Galka can be

But yeah I agree with Dade. Striders are useful to yourself, but in the PT scheme of things, are not that useful. It's a rather selfish addition to your equipment, so I would only choose it when you have most everything else that would help you and your PT more (hawkers, e-bow, amemit+1, etc).

As far as high end weapons past 70...

                      O-Bow - rare/ex
Master Caster Bow - Windy CP
Hellfire - like 15k on midgard (only 6 +1s ever sold or something)

So after E-Bow, there is no expense in end game weapons.
You could get a Culverin, but the rng in my ls that has it never uses it.

Well with the Strider Boots, much latter on if you also get the Crimson Cussies along with /THF you'll be one hell of a speed demon. Could be a great money saver for trips were you'd of needed a Chocobo. Again though it's more for yourself then the party

I also have my doubts on AGI raising Rng Accuracy. I buffed that stat to +20 along with a Hawker and my Rng Accuracy was not any better or worse then the other person using two Hawkers. I did notice though that when I buffed DEX to +15 along with the Hawker I actually saw a difference in Rng Accuracy then. I noticed my WSs seemed to stabalize more in their accuracy as well as my abilities like Barrage, the only time I've seen Barrage do under at least 400 now is if I used it when I only had 1-2 arrows left in the stack I used to fire the barrage with.

I found it quite intresting that my stats seemed to improve from making that change. I also found it intresting that Sharpshot, Barrage, and the Accuracy Bonus are all given the same color element. The more and more I play this game the more it seems that the idea of elements and stats having a relation to be true. If that is the case then the color Purple those 3 Abilities/Traits have means they are improved with DEX which seems to state that all accuracy is determined by DEX.

Anyway with equipment you are getting close to the AF sets, beyond lv. 45 the only other items I could see you needing that'll be coming up is Royal Knight's Belt (+1 would be nicer, +2 on my server is rediculously overpriced to get only 1 more to Range Accuracy). Nomad's Mantle recently I'm a bit more reserved on the idea of needing it at 45 I actually went with something that would raise my resistances to some elements. In the matter of the back items I basically say "To each his own".

You can definatly save up for the E-Bow as I understand it getting it at 55 is the best it'll be quite a powerful weapon at that point. It's power is caught up to by I think it is lv. 60 with the other bows. Or if you are plain rich going to guns is an alternative.

If that whole color of ability = stat that enhances would mean that SA was effected by AGI and we all know thats not true so scratch that.

I've heard several accounts that the movement speed bonus from striders and crimson cuisses don't stack. I also don't feel that the movement speed bonus from striders and republic aketon (rank 10 body item, +12% movement speed in bastok) stack when I run around in Bastok. Nothing positive yet, need to race with someone else who has striders :p

E-bow is definitely the best bow/xbow until 70's. Well, o-bow is 67 but if you're the sole RNG in the PT, e-bow still does more damage than o-bow I believe. Master caster bow is the only bow that really compares to e-bow and that's level 70. Hellfire is also lvl 70.

E-bow isn't caught up by any bow even at 60's... I can attest to this. From my experience, not even guns. Sarnga is 59, and has horrible stats. Add sarnga + demon arrow stats, compare to musk+1 + silver bullets:
                            sarnga+demon arrow = damage106, delay 810, str+1, rng acc+8
                            musk+1 + s. bullet = damage 116, delay 805, rng acc+10

So gun has better damage, less delay, more rng acc. Sarnga has the sole advantage of Unlimited shot + PPA. Comparably, they seem about equal. In all my parses I have outdamaged gun users, and sometimes by 50%. Go figure.

I can tell you from personal experience that Ebow isn't worth it, once you hit 51 you can get a MG+1/2 and you will do the same damage if not more than an Ebow, once you hit 67 you get Obow which will out damage both of those. For HNM you will want to use Hellfire since it has such huge TP return, and hits like a mofo. No one is going to criticize you for using WarBow+1 until lv67, so don't worry about it.
