Markmanship only is it possible?

Basically I like using guns/xbows more than I do bows for a purely aesthetic reasons, is it foolish to use guns/xbows only?

I'm thinking I can follow this equip path*
Arquebus+1/Power Crossbow
Pirate's Gun+1/Power Crossbow
Pirate's Gun+1/Zambruk+1
Serpentine Gun/Zambruk+1
Negoroshiki?(may continue using Serpentine Gun for the rng acc and rng atk)/ Zambruk+1
Musketeer+1/Arabelest+1?
then hellfire/othinus bow to endgame
*Note assuming using various bolts(acid/holy/mythril/darksteel,etc. and appropriate bullets for each gun)

Would there be a point where bow just completely outshines gun and smarter to use it, mainly pretaining to late game, or is it safe to go full auto from my current level to 75?

Suggestions, flames, additional input, corrections all welcome :p

I'm currently favoring Crossbow over Bow at lv34.. the only place I see myself going back to Bow is at 40, where there isn't an upgrade for the Crossbow.. then Muskateer Gun at 50 =D

Yea that's what's really pushing me for marksmanship only, I hoping I can tough it out using gun through the 40's to reach musketeer, but I'm wondering if I should keep the serpentine or upgrade to negoroshiki....also is the added effect on the holy bolts dependent on the resistance of the mob to light or is it a standard number? Also since they add extra damage do holy bolts outdamage mythril?(especially since you'll probably be exping on beetles then, if low light resistance adds damage to holy bolts...)

Not sure if the mobs resistance/weakness to light affects the added dmg....but crawler's cocoon sure as hell does, so watch out for that.

Sidenote: Goodluck on aquebus +1, I was looking for one at the Jeuno AH on fairy, only 3 have EVER been sold and I havent seen one since I started looking about 2 months ago (Note: I've long since passed the lvl to need it just keep checking out of curiosity now...I'm on to Serpentine if I ever use a gun).

I bought a regular arquebus to just try guns out(what got me hooked as well as the diff status bolts on xbows ><), I think Odin has a couple on sale can't get online for a few days out of town >.< but I'm hoping to get one when I get back. If not then I'll move to pirate+1 if not that then serpentine, I hope they have some on sale though..

Not to discourage you from going Marksmanship only, but if you look at imac2much's topic on guns vs e-bow it shows him outdamaging the gun rng by 10,000 damage on regular shots alone. the gun rng was using Musk +1 and Silvers.

You can do whatever you want as its your character and therefore you control what you do, but its worth taking a look at.

If the main reason you want to use gun is looks, then no its not foolish. You can get by using only marksmanship fine.

If you want to the 'most' effective you can as a rng, then its kinda foolish. I found crossbows great up until about level 40. Since then, I only use xbow to keep my skill up til 67 for obow and hellfire. Gun has disappointed me thus far (63 currently) but I'll be using hellfire at 70 for sure.

I pt w/ Imac2much and use e-bow as well and find the PPA + sidewinder to be too good to ever use my musketeer +1 and silvers aside from keeping skill up.

Just so you know I went about 10 levels using the gun then I gave up D; xbow seemed more useful for the status effects, and bow damage vs. gun damage was negligible. Also after reading imacs post I may end up using a Eurytos bow someday.

i wish i didnt have to lvl xbow/gun im lvl 30 and im so far behind.. i just want to lvl up and barrage everything.. instead im in korro tunnel skilling up on worms >.<
