  • new lvl 30 Ranger Set Advice?

My friend has a lvl 24 Ranger atm and I'd like to know from the higher lvl rangers how long would you use the Noct+1 gear before giving up the r.acc for defense on higher equipment on those slots

    Currently she has

    Power bow +1
    Beestinger

    Emp hairpin
    Ranger Necklace
    Crap Opal Earrings
    Fine Jerkin
    Kingdom Gloves
    Beetle Earrings+1
Night Cape (Camping AH for Nomad+1)
    Friars Rope
    Martial Slacks
    Leaping Boots

Given the new gear changes when would she ditch the lvl 30 upgrade basically and with what?

I'm not really a high rng, but I'm using Noct +1 body and gloves at 40.

I'll probably just keep it til AF, as I don't get hit that much w/out blink up if I can help it. I notice I'm not missing much after I got those 2 pieces for +5 extra rng acc. (not that I really missed that much before lol)

I'm keeping it until AF and even then holding onto it for level capped stuff. It also has an awesome look :D

thanks guys, to me (highest job 32) you're pretty high level rangers ^^
hopefully thats a relief to her that she wont be having to upgrade at least 3 spots for about 20 levels...i dunno tho she loves to shop

You're probably going to get similar performance with whatever you use, so in this case I'd probably go with whatever looked coolest... Rangers really catch the shaft on useable upgrades until AF.

Pardon the ignorance, I havent been playing a whole lot in the last cpl weeks other than raising fishing so I have no clue what Noct+1 is. Is it new or is it just an abbreviation on something I already know about and I'm just having a brain fart?

Noct is a new armour for THF/RNG that gives you a RAcc bonus. Definitely the best thing a RNG can use at level 30.

Scroll down and you will see all the new armours from the update. The stats on Noct are also shown.

I'm not terribly sure if one should actually use the Noct (+1) set at level 30. At that time, we get new arrows, bow, weapon, berserk (if you sub WAR) and barrage. That's an insane amount of hate there (even if you only use barrage to finish a mob), and you'd most likely be tanking unless you have a very reliable tank (not likely unless you're in a static). That said, I believe a higher defense might lend towards the survivability of your friend. Mandys don't hit terribly hard, but the Garlaige Citadel bats and beetles seem to, so I would actually hold off on the new set until Crawler's Nest (right around when PLDs get Flash).

I have to agree a bit. If you can afford it, I'd say get noct and some form of somewhat tank gear for the defense (IE centurions) and make a macro to switch between the two. If you pull hate, get the centurions on. Soon as hate is gone, put the noct back on. That's what I'm going to do now with steel scale mail. But then again, at level 30 all that is going to cost you quite a bit... so not everyone could do that.

Sure they could, if they weren't lazy and put the time in required to get the better gear, anyone could do it, its just a matter of wanting your char to be the best it can be

Agreed, I orignally took a cpl weeks off lvling rng to start lvling ninja for my sub...still waiting on the ls static for that, so now I've just been lvling fishing, and about to start farming again tonight. I will have 200k in crops next friday to sell, and I can prolly farm b/w 100-200k by then if I really buckle down and get it done. Im trying to get all my gear for lvl 30 before I start xp'ing again. I need the cap+1, body+1, gloves+1 and pants+1 (all 100k apiece except for one, the cap i think, which is 50k) plus the lvl 30 bow another archer's knife, and then all the usuals...more arrows and shihei. It may end up being 3 or 4 more weeks till I get to go back to lvling rng...but then I'll have everything I need till hopefully lvl 40 plus an xtra 100k or two. At 40 I'll be able to bcnm's a few times and that should fund me for even longer.

OT: I got steam scale mail to wear at lvl 27...same def as cent. but instead of vit+1 it has +3 on 3 different elements...is one better than the other? Opinions appreciated.

P.S. I took a choco to jeuno last night just to look at the new noct gear...spent about an hour drooling over it/planning out farming for the next cpl weeks.

Thanks for all the helpful input Just bought the set today minus the hat and the boots since she has emp hairpin and leaping boots...Centurions wont be a big deal either because she never sold her centurion set (her warr is 32). She's gonna do the 2 set thing and set up new macro's to switch the gear up...wish me luck! (im the nin/warr tank that's not gonna be able to hold mobs off her butt until a few more lvls) lol...im as best equipped as i can be but its hard to keep hate with a ranger around at this lvl no matter if you're a warr, pld, or nin. I make sure I pull myself if there is no thf and just have her send me tells where mobs are with her scan. It ends up bein pretty fast xp self pulling and Ive chained up to 5 or 6 in good parties in Qufim. ok im babbling, thanks
