The best BLM I ever PT with was a Galka O_O, infact our server has a LS just for Galka and there are a load of mages in it, all JP of course.

I'm not sure about forums (I don't browse job forums other than PLD that often unless I'm currently playing or thinking about playing the job), but I get "advice" and /tells saying how Galka is inferior in almost every job I've tried, save WAR.

When I was THF, everyone said Galka was bad THF (low DEX or something I guess -_-).
When I was NIN, everyone said Galka was bad NIN (for some reason they think we have low AGI).
When I was RDM, everyone said Galka was horrible RDM (low mp pool, low int).
When I was BLM, everyone said Galka was horrible BLM (low mp pool, low int).
When I was PLD, everyone said Galka was horrible PLD (low mp pool).
When I was BST, everyone said Galka was horrible BST (low CHR, low MP for /WHM).
When I was RNG, everyone said Galka was bad RNG (again, they think we have low AGI, as if that really mattered).

Those are the only jobs I've played as. I understand people think Galka make good DRK's (but I'm sure some people still bash Galka DRK for low mp ), SAM and MNK but I never played as these.

I and other Galkas get bashed for non-technical related matters ALL the time too... 'omg you're so ugly' blah blah blah. Yeah it's pretty funny sometimes when we're just having fun and semi-role-playing with friends, but it also gets old, especially when it's from random people. I remember in some PT's, I'd suggest a skillchain or strategy, and someone would argue something else... then later his "counter" would be, "I'm not listening to some stupid galka" or crap like that.

It's funny when it's among friends, but random Galka bashing is just annoying and tiring. I'm sure it happens a lot more than bashing of any other race, too.

Superficial people (which usually tend to be Elvaan :p) tend to preen about how "hot" they are. Nevermind that they look like the steamy lovechild of a human, ape, and giraffe or that the males sport full-blown cameltoe on their RSE, or stand in a rather suggestive manner... ah forgive me, I got carried away. :sweat:

As has been alluded to in this thread, I started life as an Elvaan and invested a decent amount of hours into him before I noticed two things:
1. I had a UPC Barcode on the back of my neck with the #1029023828912. Its true!
2. I ended up in parties where not only were there 2 or more Elvaans, but they all fucking looked like me. Curse that Elvaan 2b! Children of the Corn anyone?

So I made a Galka to be able to be "sometimes wacky Jay" and not "Clone #2325252" which is something I'm very thankful for.

Comments like "Whoa! I never get to PT with Galkas, awesome!" make it all worthwhile when derogatory comments from complete strangers get tiring. And its not even original shit intended to ellicit a chuckle. At best its "fatty" or "dumb" ohnoez why j00 so vishus!!111. Next to an Elvaan, a Galka is fucking Thomas Edison (just a jab at the INT stats of the races ).

All relative man... Simple fact is there are rotten eggs in every bunch; as it were, Elvaans/Humes being heavily populated also sport the highest population of retards due to it. Just bust those chops right back.

Odd turn this thread has taken... the Galkas are going all emo up in here.

Aww, it's not that bad Jay. I am partial to 2b myself, but the closest i've gotten to a clone is elvaan 2a.

Wow, you gotta be kidding me. IMO Galkas make the best PLDs because of their VIT and HP. That's what makes or breaks a "traditional" tank IMO.

Also, Galkas have the same DEX as a Hume and only 3 less AGI at 59 so their AGI isn't THAT bad. If we're going to focus on miniscule differences, Elvaan have 7 less AGI than a hume, 7 more STR. Galka miss 3 STR VS. an Elvaan. Not much really. >.> Galka looks more balanced a class for RNG than Hume the more that I think about it.

Thing is, when you have enough gil and playskill.. you should be able to offset the problems your race could present in playing any job. Even the infamous elvaan THF, BLM remarks have been put to shame by people I know <.<

If you like a race, pick it.. if you like a job, play it. Period. (Don't mistake this for saying play blm/drg or anything, though.. subjobs are different.)
