Is elvaan ranger a good choice??? They have the lowest agility but in all of the cinemas and the pictures i see them frequently. Can someone give me some reasons why they are good as rangers and why they arent, thanx in advance!!! Sorry if this has been done before!

Basically what it boils down to is this:
Elvaan: lowest agility but highest strength, and what many ppl consider to be the coolest animations
Mithra: highest agility but lower strength
The differences in STR ang AGI early in the game are very low, and by the time when you reach 75 where they are at there greatest, it boils down to around 7 r. acc...easily overcome with the proper gear, and likewise if you're a mithra looking for extra strength. The general consensus is that race is the least important stat when it comes to jobs like these. (Player performance being first and foremost followed by gear).
There's actually a forum right under this one about this topic that is more explanatory...its titled mithra or elvaan? take a look at it, it has some good insights.I RNG 75 I WAR 37 I NIN 38 I SAM 50 I Woodworking 92+2

I would say Elvaan do the most dmg as RNG... Races really dont matter but after leveling my tHF with my friend RNG who was hume he did 1000 dmg slug shot in Ro'Maeve with Othinus Bow' and me as elvaan I do 1200 O_O and only difference in our gear is I ahve Striders and Optical hat.

I think the pic below says its all.
Meecha is a mithra and I am elvaan.
Same level and our gear is almost same escept i am accuracy based and she is attack based.
I missed one slug shot out of like 50
She missed atleast 2-3
I out dmg her on almost every hit and on every slug shot.
Theres ur answer.. its clear :spin:

I could show the screenshot of me hitting 1900 slug shot in an exp pt, and say "taru str isn't gimped!".. but it wouldn't be fair choosing one screenshot
Run a parser and compare.. last elvaan ranger i played with was a total let down.. but he was a japanese guy who stopped firing all the time so he wouldn't get aggro

Was gonna post a counterpoint supporting mithra rng > elvaan rng, but not gonna be a hypocrite. :dead:

/sigh Why can't you just say the races are equal? And that equipment makes the ranger.

THF is a totally different matter regarding race than RNG is. With sneak attack being based solely on dex and not str and trick being based on agi and also not str, a mithra in the same gear is going to do noticably more damage. If you ask me, elvaan is really the worst race for a thf for their poor dex compared to a mithra :\Woodworking: 60

I've partied with some really crappy RNGs, and some pretty good ones. I partied with an Elvaan RNG who broke the bank on all his gear, did good damage but was a chicken shit. So he slowed down his damage instead of trusting the tank.
I partied with a Mithran RNG, who seemed to rarely miss, but would start the fight out with Barrage and wonder why he died so damn much. (Honestly, I've seen a lot of RNGs use Barrage before PLD can get a real hold on hate.)
For me, my RNG is only Lv.17. I think with rings, bow, necklace and arrows, I have RngAcc+18. And I think I have AGI+3. I hit at a decent percentage, but the other RNGs I have seen have poor gear. AGI+1 rings, instead of RngAcc+3 rings. Still using Lv.12 bow. As a WAR with a Great Axe, I could hit them at times. (RngDmg41 (highest) 55 Critical | Great Axe 45 a number of times, and 75 Critical) But I do realize those were two weak RNGs.
At Lv.17 with the gear I have, I hit at a good rate, even with my crappy Elvaan AGI.Odude
