  • Hmm.....a weapon question

I haven't even reached a high enough lvl to do a Adv-Job quest but when I was drooling at the Elemental Staves at the AH in Jeuno, I wanted to see why I never hear about people using the Fire Staff.

I looked at the Attack bonuses and the Ranged Attack bonuses. Once I saw the +10 Ranged Attack I quickly thought, why don't I see Rangers running around with these on their back? Is their a weapon that gives an even higher Ranged Attck bonus or is Ranged Accuracy a higher priority? If acc+ gear is more imoportant, can't a Mithra RNG have room to use it(I'm not saying that Mithra RNG should avoid acc+ gear, just that they need it less and maybe they would have more room for attck+ gear).

Please awnser this for me, it's been making me think to much whenever I see a ranger.

racc is usually a much higher priority.

plus, rangers suck with staves so they can't gain TP with staff attacks, and its hideously slow.

I see the acc+ point you're trying to make but about the Stave thing, I thought Rng don't or rarely use their Non-Range weapon in combat 0_o Do they ever fight in close combat, do they stick to shooting through the fight, or do they do a little of both?

If they do use their Non-Range weapon in combat, I understand now why I see alot of Rangers with an Axe or Dagger over the Fire Staff.

Archer's Knife, level 30. +10 ranged accuracy. Faaaaaar superior to fire staff for ranger.

rangers usually melee once, shoot once or twice, melee again, repeat and barrage/weapon skill when appropriate, as well as shadowbind when things sorta get out of hand.

so yes, they DO fight up close 99% of the time. TP is a major concern when sidewinders come into play, but not so much after arching/heavy shot.

            Ohhhhhhhhhh Now I get it.

That's what I was looking for. Can't beleive I forgot about the Archers Knives  Thanks for clearing it up for me everyone. I shall no longer think to much when I see a Ranger in their little green suite's(but it would be cool to see a ranger with a fire staff on their back while they shoot demons with their guns )
