Um... RNG/SAM is REALLY good with Meditate. A good one can do three sidewinders in a row, chaining each. That'd do around 2200 damage with just the sidewinders and the chains if the sidewinders did 600 each and the renkeis did 200 each. That's not including the barrage damage from getting another 100% TP after the first sidewinder. That's Sidewinder -> Barrage -> Sidewinder -> Meditate -> Sidewinder. Less than 40 seconds and you have 2200 damage. That's pretty ridiculous damage if you ask me. And, on top of that, you can do it again in 5 minutes.

No you won't be able to do it again in five minutes because you'll be dead.

It starts to come together at 60 but the problem is how much hate you get. If sidewinder is doing 1000+ dmg your tank is gonna be having trouble keepin the hate from even one of those sidewinders. Now imagine two or three times that. I really don't think that you will be able to stay alive after firing off 3 sidewinders in a fight. The again if you wait until the mob is half dead or so, it may be something helpful but for the most part is just too difficult to manage and still use to the peak of its abilities.

I actually liked it at 58. Sam get sidewinder at 57, but I had to lvl archery. But it shines at 60.

It's not too bad, I think it's comparable to /war or /nin, it just depends on style of play. You get more tp, true, but it's not so much that you can do 3 sidewinders in a row. It does allow you to be able to WS more often, and if you can manage it right then it can be a good combo.

There's no way you can do 3 sidewinders in a row and chain them all. It's possible to do a chain off yourself, but only once and you need to get lucky (rapid shot) if you're using a bow with a large delay on it. you can do a Barrage->Meditate->Sidewinder->Shoot->Sidewinder and maybe chain with a bow. The 60 tp that med gives you works with the barrage to give you enough to WS again. On the other hand, something like Sidewinder->Guillotine->Sidewinder can be fun....

Using a gun, I can already do hot shot, a barrage, and have TP for another hot shot... I thought meditate gave you 100?

I think if you want to play the kind of playstyle that rng/sam alludes to. you should play sam/rng instead.
Otherwise you're just going to end up getting yourself killed a couple times, backing off from the "sam" playstyle, and going back to the "war" playstyle, but being less effective than a rng/war would be.

If you want to do tons of sidewinders and skillchains, I think sam/rng is a better choice than rng/sam. (my personal opinion)

Not if you aim to hit with the sdiewinders. Sam is very gimped on agi. Even with the top of the line gear and bard hunters prelude you'll miss at least twice as much as a rng/sam.

You're kidding right? The subjob stat difference between jobs is so miniscule as to barely be un-noticeable.
