  • Meat kabobs and range attack

Do meat kabobs actually increase range attack? I've noticed I only do about 3 dmg more when I use meat kabobs and I attribute this to the +5 STR that the kabobs give. I've heard some people that say their dmg went from 80 to 100 after using a meat kabob.

Do meat kabobs increase range attack?

Yes they do , they add an extra 2 AGI, and also adds 5 STR which will mak you hit alot harder.

Since using these i have dropped my NIN sub and started using WAR and i dont miss as much, but hit alot harder ^_^

They do raise strength, but I believe that it also raises attack/ranged attack. I think someone says it raises it by 23 or something...but I'm not sure. That's the problem: you can't see the stat change.

How long has it been since you've used one mikim? They should give you at least 10-20 more dmg way before lvl 41.

Kabobs increase attack by ~22%, you can measure this easily by checking your attack rating before and after you activate one. For ranged attack, I would assume it's the same. But there's no way to check that one for sure.

^^^ yeah my dmg is usually something like 15-20 more with them. I would never level without them either

I don't think it raises ranged attack. The STR affects Ranged Attack though.

You can't honestly tell me you think you're getting that much more damage from just strength.

Hmmm. I'll look at my damage again.

Although I didn't really need them last night, 2rngs/brd/pld/blm/rdm. It was insane, we were ripping through flies in gustav in under 30secs. Did 801 dmg to an IT with barrage. Can't wait for the barrage upgrades.

But, yea I guess I'll have to check my dmg again. When I was lvling against beetles I swear there was only a 3-5 dmg increase, but maybe i was tired and misreading it  . Seems like they should increase rng attack.

it raises r.attack, not just attack and str.... it raises att and str too but those are not real noticable.

                        The R.attack is noticable though.

Use Berserk which doesn't raise STR. You'll notice that it raises your damage with ranged attacks. It's descritpion? +ATK -DEF. I'm personally under the believe that ATK raises RNGed ATK too, though the only "proof" I have comes form Berserk and Food.

                            do this small experiment:

put on +5 str gear and +2 agi. shoot a mob
                            take that gear off.
eat a mithkabob. shoot the same mob

your dmg will be higher with just the mithkabob than with the +5 str +2 agi gear on.

and if it didn't affect ranged attack, the dmg would be the same.

ps: the difference in dmg will be greater at higher levels, and also you must not be attacking something that's too weak++ to you, or your dmg will be capped whether you put +stats on or not.

You seriously only notice a 3dmg difference?
I'm a RNG42 now (just like you) and the damage jump is about 80 to 100, yeah.
