Hello i currently have saved up 1.5 million gil and was wondering how high you think it can take me as a ranger? Keep in mind farming is not an option for me anymore cause i am sick of it! anyway any input,advice to minimize cost's,etc are welcome :spin: Oh i also wanted to ask,how can i keep my gun skill up to date without breaking my wallet? And at what level do guns substitute bows if ever Sorry for all the questions just having a hard time deciding what main i want to be and im a retired 3 year old ranger from EQ so im kinda in love with the class Have a good day all

1. Guns begin to get great at level 50, when you can use Silver Bullets. From this point onward, with guns, nothing LESS than the aforementioned ammunition will suffice in XP Player.

2. To level marksmanship, I recommend using Crossbows and bolts.

3. I'd say you can get it to maybe early 60s.

Keep in mind i would buy the emperor hairpin and the leaping boots least until im high enough so i can farm em,except the lizzy i know i can farm it right now but like i said kinda sick of farming right now so that's bout 500k less on 2 items so really its 1 million sorry *sigh i really want to go ranger but jeez dang expensive class! *shakes fist Where's my endless quiver AA when i need it! if you want to get far stay away from guns till your ubber rich.

Example:

silver bulets are about 9,400gil per stack of 99

1,200,000 / 9,400 = 128

I use about 20+/- stacks per lvl from 47-48-49-50

so 128 / 20 = 6.4 levels -- I gain about a level a day at this point so in six days you would blow your 1.2 million without even buying meat or a gun to shoot them with.

lol.. dont even think about using guns to exp, their only use for me is messing around with them.

Level your marksmanship later on, I did it in about 2 days solo.

I honestly think if you continue to farm while you level ranger you can make it to 50 with 1.2 million, as long as you buy the sensible gear. get +1bow and rings every chance you get. Buy the leeping boots untill lvl 33 when you can equip your RSE boots for 1/6th the cost. There is more cost saving tips out there too. SUch as making your own arrows, and selling a bunch too.

As a ranger, just like a ninja, if you want to be respected you need to spend lots of gil.

We are expected, (and expect other rangers) to do the maxium damage because we have pride in our job, and expect others to do the same. This requires the best arrows for your level, and the best bow, if you sub nin, its Utsasami(sp): ichi too. Dont forget your food. Meat Mithkabobs are a requirememnt at 220g a hit every 30 rl mins.

The things you buy that you cannot resell are:
-Arrows
-Utsasami
-Food

These expenses are outrageous if you tally them up for your entire life, but taken 5 levels at a time its very manageable if you start out with a nice chunk of gil.

I've noticed, especially in a good PT setup, that WAR outshines NIN. But that's an argument for another thread =)

Also, keep in mind this, AntAnt:

You should only consider using Guns level 50+. This is when silver bullets become available. Furthermore, XP jumps to a horrendous height once you hit 51. I believe it's 10k, then 15k, then 20k. 20k per level, a stack per 1300 XP [ Guns fire slower ]. = Ded broke very fast. Unless you get the Argus Drop AND have a high-skill Alchemist friend, just forget guns altogether.

You can do what I'm doing and get Alchemy to 75ish and goldsmithing to 25ish before you start your Ranger

it cost me 280k to lvl from 30 to 44, maybe that helps a bit ^^
