Using Wooden arrows?

I was wondering:

Would it be ok to use wooden arrows up to maybe level 20?
I'm kind of in a finacial slump, and I was wondering if it was ok or not.

I have a level 30THF/15WAR, but I can't really find the money making source I need (I would like to be able to make a consistant 10k and hour, or more), I've tried hunting lizzy a bit and I can never nab her (I've tried hunting about 20 times too :sweat: )

So I was wondering if it is ok to use wooden arrows for quite awhile, if all other gear is up to date.

I would say wooden arrows at lvl 20 is not that great. If you wanna save money try crafting bone arrows, very easy to make. All you need is 2 bone chips to make bone arrowheads. Only thing your gonna need to buy is the yagudo fletchings.

Iron arrows are like 700-800 gil a stack on my server. You can make 800gil easy with a 30 THF. Couple hours of farming you should be able to buy a couple of stacks.

If your gonna be a ranger be prepared to spend the money, cause if you play with sub par equipment, be it arrows or armor your not just cheating yourself but the people you party with also.

i'm lvl 41 and i rarely use my bow. those arrows are too expensive... 700gil a stack?? comeon! craazzzyy. I mainly stand there and leech of my party's exp and pretend i'm shooting. If they get annoyed with me, i'd draw out my bow and pretend to shoot. at the last minute i'll move ever so slighty so that it distrubts my aim. than i'll type in "/em deals 120 dmg to the <t>". in the text line and hope they don't notice. ^^ i'm lvl 41 now and that long bow +1... i can just smell it already.

Im not going to start a debate over subjobs, but here is "WHY I CHOSE NIN" NiN gets you two archers knives that add 10 ranged accuracy and 1 agi EACH.(not to mention the ubber gil spender hawlkers knives+1) For me hitting my WS's and JA's is much more important, as well as hitting often to build TP. This way I get to use a ws much more often. Remeber Ranged type WS and JA miss very often. Nin also gets you ninja tools. Ichi Before a WS like sidewinder, or before a pull, or an ability like barrage/sidewinder is key to surviving the mobs hate. Being a taru with insane AGI and low VIT - you might be thinking of going war for more dmg, my concern would be not having Ichi after a ws/ja/long-pull. Rangers piss mobs off. In most cases the second I activate it a JA, i pull the hate even before I fire. RNG has low HP, something to consider, so try them both, and see which YOU like better. Sam is also an option to build TP really fast.

Gil - You need lots of gil. I'll say it again. You need lots of gil. You must buy Arrows non stop, or You need to level woodworking far enough to make scorpion arrows with ease. Plan on spending at least 30,000 per lvl from 45-50. You will "WANT" 3,000,000 (server prices vary) at lvl 55 to purchase a Euritos bow. Of course you dont "need" it, But the rng who has it is loving himself every shot. What you DO need is +1 everything for every lvl up, Emperor hairpin, and Leeping boots, or their +AGI equilivent --> (rse gear maybe if your cheap. The (free) AF gear is mostly a joke except for the boots and armor. If it does not have + ranged accuracy or +agi dont equip it(thats my rule anyway). Start making Gil now. Gil is the only limiting factor to enjoying your RNG to the max. I could probibly list off over 100,000,000gil in items I would LOVE to have most before lvl 55. Yes thats one hundred million. Do I need them? No, not all of them. Could I camp for them? Some. SOme you need an insane alliance of lvl 75's to obtain. Hence the price. You will need Ninja tools every outing. You will need all 4 goblin bags and the fame to obtain them. Remember that Scorpion arrows do not quiver.

Bow skils - Your bow skill will cap 2 mobs after each lvl. Dagger usually takes me 3 mobs after a lvl up. At this point im lvling marksmanship as well and cap it at the same time with ease. note: I spam arrows back to back and my daggers only go every other shot and only for 1 second. Then follow with a barrage every 5min which is basicly 4 arrows shot at the mob. If you hit all 4 you can usually cap your skill on one barrage. SO the answer is No, dont worry about bow skills, worry about lvling marksmanship AND archery if you plan to use guns one day(please revisit gil section).

Follow the guide posted on this forum. Woodworking is a necessity to keeping ammo costs down. Its a dirty little RNG-Woodworking secret that your arrows will be free to you if you make double, quiver them, and sell them for profit.

There is absolutely zero reason to be using wooden arrows. Iron arrows are a minimum. If you cannot afford the 800 gil a stack when bought from an npc pick a new job because it will not get any easier. Oh, and you should probably quiver them too to make sure you don't run out but that is another 150-200gil per stack (cost of carnations is 2k per 12 on Asura).

I wouldn't use wooden arrows in an EXP party if you have done enough quests you should be able to buy wooden from the npc's for about 3gil a wooden arrow so a stack would be about 297 gil.


I'd go out and start hunting monsters with decent drops with this, it's always worked great for me. 1 stack of 99 wooden arrows would usually get me 2 stacks of silk which I can sell to get a total of 18,000 gil.

Also if you do that make sure you get a good fast firing bow with decent damage. The right bows should make a huge difference when farming you should be able to kill 2 - 3 monsters to another jobs 1 kill (Taking monsters 1 at a time so excluding the mages -ga spells, but they still spend that time collecting the monsters too in order to do that).

i go farming with about 4-5 stacks of woodens, and stop when i run out.

i usually get about 100k a run with that on optimum days.... takes about 2-3 hours.

usual run is about 60-70k for 4 hours.... rougly 20k an hour more or less.

I kill monsters a lot faster tha most classes... don't be afraid to use barrage because it eats arrows. Faster kills = more efficency = less healing.

Man i don't even farm with wooden arrows.

Yes they're cheap but they do so little damage, i save more money with higher arrows because they do more damage, thus i fire fewer arrows.

i farm with woodens or irons, depends.

they both cost so little that it doesn't matter, i just grab whatever's nearby. I always finish using those stacks before stopping so it doesn't really make a difference... i shoot them all either way.

Well, you can solo RNG quite easily to 20, and while soloing you can use whatever you want XD
