  • Taru RNG: Problem with Maat.

My friend is 0-8 vs. Maat. Lvl 70 Taru RNG with about 700 hp, maxed Archery, low Marksmanship.

What is the strategy to beating Maat as a Taru RNG?

    Thanks.

this is just speculation.. i haven't tried it yet (and i'm not going to til i'm 70)

    but:
opo-opo neck + sleep potions to get 100(+) TP.

sharpshot > approach+engage > sidewinder/slugshot > maat is said to do eagle eye shot at this point > shadowbind > run away, regain HP with potions > once you have enough hp, barrage > eagle eye shot > sidewinder ~ here he should give up.

I've done this technique.. but he used Asuran Fist at the end (Maat ~100 HP left).. so i died.

      :dead:

I need some help too ><

If that's exactly the way he did it, somebody is lying.

You can only use Icarus Wing once every hour.

Well I finally got my Ranger to 71, which is a Hume and I beat Maat on my 4th try. My Taru friend is still stucked with Maat and is about to give up .

Here's are some tip for you guys:

Don't fight this punk during Darksday. He shot me with a 720 dmg Eagle Eye follow by a ranged crit attack I was dead right away lol. Eagle Eye Shot is darkness element, on Darksday it's deadly.

Bring 5 sleep potions instead of 4, for some fucked up reason the second time I went in and started drinking all the sleep potions, I got only 97% TP which fucked up everything.

Make sure you have your AF Glove, you'll need help with Shadowbind. Use Sangra or Hellfire, you'll need the TP return from these weapons. Use Kabura Arrows or Silver Bullets.

Carry about 10 Hi-Potions with you, and a Meat Mithkabob.

Remember to swap your Opo opo necklace out after you done sleeping.

Luck. You'll need it. A few things that can screw you no matter what you do:

            - Sidewinder/Slugshot missing
            - Bad barrage
            - Shadowbind broke too early
            - Maat crit too ofhen
            - Maat uses WS

            To kill Maat you need:

2x Sidewinder + Barrage(full hit) + Eagle Eye, Maat gives up.

Here you can see why hitting a full barrage is critical. With Sangra or Hellfire, a full Barrage + initial Sidewinder/Slugshot shot will bring you to 100% TP setting you up for another WS.

On my first and second fight with Maat, my Barrage didn't do full damage and totally screw up my TP%. I was hanging around 50% after Barrage. Used Icarus then Sidewinder followed by Eagle Eye Shot but Maat was still alive with about 20% left. No more options besides normal ranged attack, game over. 2x Sidewinder + lame barrage + Eagle Eye Shot = not enough to kill Maat.

3rd fight was over before it even begun, TP was at 97% after sleep(read above). I figured I'd get in a normal shot to get that extra TP then use Sidewinder. As usual Maat starts with Eagle Eye follow by ranged attack. His eagle did 720 dmg and his range crit, I died right away. Don't go in during Darksday :p .

4th try, everything went smooth. Sleep till 125% TP, walked in and stopped right about Shadowbind distance. Sidewinder followed immediately by Shadowbind. Ran out of Maat's range and healed up to full. Activated Sharpshot + Barrage just as Shadowbind broke. Fire barrage and all connected. TP was at 105% and flashing . Another Sidewinder to the face for Maat. Whipped out my Eagle Eye Shot and Maat gave up . About 300 hp left when it was over with Icarus unused.

The key to winning Maat is hitting that full Barrage. Icarus can backup a missed Sidewinder or Eagle Eye Shot, but can't undo a missed Barrage. You loose too much damage and TP return if you missed Barrage, it's going to be a uphill battle.

Eurytos dont give as much tp return as sarnga becouse eurytos has lower delay (more delay gives more TP)

why not try sleep arrow/utsusemi method mixed into the usual sidewinder shadowbind barrage sidewinder eagle eye?, slap in a sleep arrow when ur utsusemi is about to fade recast and go back into that routine?

You don't have sub-job when you fight Maat so you can't use Utsusemi.

The strategy I've heard that's supposedly consistent is opo-opo/icarus, engage, Sidewinder, Shadowbind+heal, Barrage, Eagle Eye, Sidewinder. If you are using a high delay weapon, you can even miss a hit on Barrage and still be OK.

                        Centurio X-I 1/1 - Celphie 1/1 - Deadly Dodo 0/2 - Doppleganger Dio 0/1 - Jaggedy-eared Jack 0/7 - Joo Duzu the Whirlwind 1/1 - Leaping Lizzy 2/16 - Mimas 0/1 - Odqan 1/9 - Orcish Wallbreacher 0/1 - Ose 1/3 - Sagittarius X-XIII 1/1 - Serpopard Ishtar 3/6 - Silk Caterpillar 1/2 - Tom Tit Tat 0/2 - Trickster Kinetix 0/2 - Valkurm Emperor 6/10 - Wyvernpoacher Drachlox 1/1

I'm a taru rng and i've done this. it's actually quite easy but you might lose first time due to inexperience (not knowing what to expect) and you may lose other times due to bad luck.

                          preps:
                          don't go in during darksday
                          use hellfire and silver bullets
get opo-opo necklace and (i used 6 but you can use) 4 sleeping potions
                          get JSE earring
                          get 6+ Hi-Potions
get 1 icarus wing (should need it, but just incase)
                          get 1 fishkabob
                          make macro /item "hi-potion" <me>
make macro /item "icarus wing" <me>

                          strat:
                          > enter
                          > equip opo-opo neck and use sleeping potions for 100%+ TP
                          > equip ranger's neck
                          > eat kabob
                          > engage maat
                          > approach (but not too far)
                          > slug shot
                          > (maat uses eagle eye shot)
                          > (make sure hunter's bracers are equiped) shadowbind
                          > run out of range (at this point i had about 100 HP left)
                          > spam hi-potion macro until you have 100% health or maat becomes unbound
                          > use sharpshot + barrage
                          > (re-engage maat if you ran too far away) shoot
                          > use Eagle Eye Shot
                          > you should have 100%+ TP by now, so use slugshot
                          > maat should give up. if he doesnt, use emergancy icarus wing and slugshot him again.

                          i don't think i left anything out.
you might want to get/borrow the carapace stuff, and equip this after your initial slugshot, because after maat does eagle eye, he will also shoot you again before you'll be out of range. but you shouldn't need to.

Whoever suggested using sleep bolts and such, I just tried that tonight because I quit playing Ranger and still had a testimony.

                            Don't bother.

Crappy parties and Maat win. Now a full-time Fisherman. Fishing: 50.1

I did this last week and voodoo is 100% correct.. took me 5 times however (3 slug shot misses and a 105 damage barrage..).

What i did discover is that EES is totally random. Out of the 5 times, it did about 500~ damage three times, and 125 damage twice.

                              Rng maat = luck ><

Bit OT : i've got the same taru avatar as you voodoo. Theres 3 taru na rng on my server with that avatar too.. kinda amusing when we go walking round jeuno ;x
