okay just hit 40 and ready to do some bcnms whoo. anyone want to tell me what my role should be?what i think it is - bard puts all white mandras to sleep, and i use eagle, barrage, WS, and he should be mostly dead after that. or should i take my time so i dont get all the hate and get flooded

As the only ranger in my group, id barrage and berserk before i run in.
After PLD runs in and gets hit and bard sleeps, i'll unleeash barrage and shot a few times till flaming arrow, then i take of Zerk becasue il be tanking till it dies.

as for flood, if you notice it casting it (usualy will be casting on the ranger if only ranger there) run back as far as you can, even if dark stuns i run back just to make sure.

I've never done bcnm ever, I really want to.. but without a LS or anything I doubt I'll do it anytime soon as mnk

but I'm curious is flood AE or single target? I know it has huge cast time that lets u run out of its range, but could you just cast utsusemi and block it completely? well if it is single target I mean

The ranger will more likely than not be tanking the entire fight. The group I did bc40 with didn't even bother having a pld. Flood is single target and yes, the ranger is the first one to die from it. Out of 13 runs (11 wins XD ) I died to Flood twice and Mandra rape once (bard DC); once because Silence just wouldn't stick (the group went on to win anyway) and once because the fill-in rdm had the wrong macro set up and was chain casting Aero instead of casting Silence for some reason. :sweat:

I honestly wouldnt suggest running in and nuking the Black Mandragora (Dvorovoi), even if you were to bust out all the ja's and a flaming arrow, you would probably only take off about 1/3 of the HP.

However, this would cause you to be tanking for (probably) the entire fight against it, and regardless of having/not having a PLD, there should be another melee tanking.

BCNM40 (Giddeus) is all about the control of the sleep and the maintenance of the mages MP.

Having the Ranger tank just throws everything off in terms of MP use, and makes dangerous situations turn into situations where everyone dies.
