I wonder if anyone else got the same idea as me but I often have people who expect rng to be just like a thf....

The most annoying thing is that no matter how good your equipment you have, no matter how easy or hard the mob is, you will always be judged on how your sidewinders hit

After I reached lvl 60 I'm havin trouble with gettin enough tp to use sidewinder on every mob... cause when the pt is any good the mob will be half dead or even more when I have enough tp for sidewinder....
The annoying part is when people set up a renkei expecting me to hit sidewinders @ 100-110%, I will tell them I will prolly miss alot, but then we try, then I miss, then they think I suck ^-^
Almost every time after that I will get a check from the most nagging person in the pt to look @ my equip ^-^ that part I like cause I always have good equip, then they are quiet mostly but then the people who think they know everything will think I suck cause well I ain't acting like a thf they pt'd with orso...

He even says my equipment was good and that I was "possible" using bad arrows O.o... well I have always had the best equip and best arrows (except million+ equips) till lvl 60 (in this pt lvl 40 scorpion ones).
I told this person that I could use lvl 45 elemantal arrows (wich I tried in that pt a few times) but that these did more dmg with less accuricy, apparently he wasn't listening ><
The other thing people dun realize is that arrows do less dmg to crabs then to let's say crawlers, so a thf would do more dmg prolly against crabs in a renkei (well some thf's ^-^).... but people dun know it or dun want to hear it

I always try to be the best rng I can be in lvl'ing pt's and I think I'm doing a good job but when people think I will hit every sidewinder or be just like a thf (wich both of these things are impossible) they are just wrong... and shouldn't think I am a bad rng just cause of things I can't do any other way

Most of the people I meet think I'm a good rng and like pt'ing with me, but there are some very few (people who think they know everything) who just annoy me cause of their constant complaining about me ain't doing dmg the same way as a thf for example
There aren't many rng's (tho that will change ^-^) so people dun really realize what a rng does.....

Tho I can count the number of these people on 1 hand (maybe 2) I needed to say it

hmm.. this may not be exactly the same but i know exactly how you feel.
I have a lvl 60 ish Mithra Drk and i pretty much never miss. Whenever i use guillotine its always 4 hits out of 4 and the elvaan/hume drk's i party with always complain about getting only 1 or 2 hits out of their guillotine. However, people compare me to elvaans. They always say.. oh look.. she hits for a few points less for damage.. she sucks because she deals less damage per hit (but hit much more often)
This let me come up to the conclusion of three things:
1) don't expect people to be smart... most of them are ignorant and rude. Its better to be impressed than dissapointed.
2) With the exception of weapon skills.. 90% of the people only care about how much damage you hit each time. They don't care about delay nor accuracy.
3) and yes.. people do judge you on your damage AND accuracy of your weapon skill.

you just have to explain that sidewinder is high damage, low accuracy WS. I get stick from my PT every time I miss a side, so you're not alone ~_^

oh, and on mobs you miss side often on, use Sarnga instead of War Bow+1, it deals about the same damage (maybe slightly less) but you'll hit side more often. the delay on it is terrible, but at least you'll hit side more.

yeah, people usually don't understand sidewinders miss 50% or more of the time when it is charged up to 100%.... even with sharp shoot i charge it up to 150%+ just to make sure. Normal usage i try to save 150% for VT mobs and 200%+ on IT mobs... or more if it has high evasion. (damn courels/raptors)

but people are just ignorant and you just need to tell them.... most will listen but if the idiots just blabber on... well those people are the ones you don't want to pt with to begin with.

Why are you getting TP so slowly? Are you firing at the maximum speed possible? I'm almost always the first person in the group to hit 100% tp while the rest catch up, I'm around 150% when we're ready to go.

Normal shot accuracy is around 95% on IT with a bard, without a bard it's around 80%. Learn when to use sharpshot or when Barrage is needed to boost your tp. Generally, your accuracy should be way ahead of other melees for normal attacks. You need those tp fast, if you're using a Sangra, trash it it's junk. I used that thing for 3 fights and went back to my War Bow. The War Bow has much more DPS and gains tp much quicker, the extra tp gained will help much more then the extra +6 acc from Sangra.

I form my own group, if I can't get a bard, we chain VT to low IT monsters. Only tackle solid IT mobs if you have a bard, doing otherwise is counter productive as melee/ranged attacks don't hit these well without songs, you'll be in for a long night. At lvl 60+, IT are like 10+ lvl above you.

I got a great pt now to 63, was in a 62-64 pt and I was 62 RNG but cause we got a BRD I could kill the IT+ high evasion and defense mobs easy so that's nice, and cause they were IT+ I could get enough tp

People always look @ there pt and no further, they dun look @ mob, place and pt just the result ><
Like I ain't gonna say I can hit high evasion/defense IT's easy now just cause it worked in 1 pt.....

And with VT's it's like the same, maybe in your situation you can get 150% on them and do sidewinder and take down alot of HP, the last times I can remember (VT raptors in VoS) I couldn't use sidewinder's good cause I would try to get 150%, and even if I hit every arrow, by the time I get 150% the mob will be @ 10%-20% HP if the pt is any good, so I could use sidewinder but only like 500 dmg orso would be usefull, the 500-1000 more dmg of the renkei would be wasted cause the mob is alrdy dead

Everyone's got a different story (most of em tend to tell it a bit nicer then they really are ^-~) and you can't really judge on statistics of those stories cause you dun know the whole situation of the pt/mob/place etc

This part totally says nothing how good you are as RNG...
The 80%-95% can be against low IT/VT and maybe the RNG waits a long time to use sidewinder so it almost always hit but doesn't fully uses the dmg... or maybe it's against IT+ with high evasion/defense and tihs RNG has all the 1 million+ equipment

I got the best equipment now @ lvl 63 and always had best equipment and I can tell you, so have 99% of the RNG's cause it's all easy to get, so almost all RNG's have the same accuricy/attack

Can be all sorts of things(different mobs/place/pt or just someone who wants to show off ><, made this topic just to point out that ya need to think before ya judge and that I met some people who didn't :D

I never said I was good, and I never judged you. And if you've taken the time to read properly, notice I said 'normal shots' and not Sidewinder. I didn't make those numbers up, and my equipment is far from uber. My Ranger is not even my main job, I just level him when I don't feel like playing my Ninja, so his equipment priority comes second. He does have full AF, but they aren't that good besides the jerkin. I'm using War Bow +1 as my weapon, hardly anything worth bragging about.

I gave some numbers so you can base your performance on, someone about the same level, is a Hume Rng/War too, looks like you took it the wrong way.

If Robber Crabs are giving you trouble, then Tomara and later Processories(sp??) will give you nightmares. If your group is taking down stuff too fast, just have everyone go solo WS. One thing I forgot to mention, Guillotine and Penta spammers gain very fast TP on VT mobs, don't expect to compete with them. In the end you'll still come out ahead in damage with better accuracy and high damage. Never let others tell you how to play your job,if you think you can't hit with 100% tp, then don't do it. Ask them to wait, then blow them away with 1200 dmg with Unlimited Shot + Demon Arrows + Berserk, that'll shut them the hell up.

Those IT+ high defence/evasion mobs I was talkin about were Processories... these comments is what I'm talkin about, you claim something that isn't true in my case...

I am posting to much on this forum, need me time to play FFXI and RNG's shouldn't argue among themselves, they should look @ the drk's and drg's that trying to come close to our dmg
