What arrows you carry after lv 40?

At level 40 you get to use Scorpion arrows, but these can't be put into quivers. I don't have enough space to carry 15 stacks of these.

I have considered to use Horn arrows again or maybe Silver arrrows but I'm still not so sure which one is better.

How many arrows do you guys carry after lv 40? Are elemental arrows useful? Are they worth using as primary ammo?

Enlarging your bag is important for a ranger.

I personally carry about 10-15 stacks of scorp and ALWAYS carry a quiver (12) of iron arrows for weak mobs/farming/case i run out.

I'll usually do the same, carry around scorpion for xping, and iron for backup or farming or something like that. They're fairly cheap, and the damage is 10-15 points lower than scorps, but they get the job done.

Rangers can't do crap for damage with melee weapons. If you want to use a melee weapon please don't be a ranger. To give you an example, using the best sword I can @ level 14, Brass Xiphos +1, and with my sword skill maxed, I was doing 3-10 damage to crabs in dunes. My hunter's longbow + bone arrows would do 40-50.

im 43 now and i um. cant use scorp for exping. i will get hate alot quicker, and instead of sitting around between fires waiting for pld to get more hate, i just go to iron for less damage, and just constant firing. i only use scorp for barrage, eagle, ws.

Scorps all the way. The damage increase on these over the lower arrows is very respectable, I'd say 15ish over horn without anything to amp your attack. (Food, berserk etc)

The inventory space is somewhat annoying, but moghouse and bag upgrades are fairly cheap for the extra room. Also, unless you're xping for an extended period, you don't "need" to carry 15 stacks.

why do u need to carry 15stacks? i shoot a little over 1 stack per 1/2 hr and thats shooting every chance i get. With the AF I shoot more as well cuz of the rapid shot boost. but with 15stacks of arrows that would mean a 6-7hr xp session... thats only with no interrupts no breaks, no deaths.. i personally carry about 10stacks, most i ever carry was 12 when i know it was gona be a long time but thats only from static parties.

I usually have about 3 stacks of iron, 3 of scorpion, and sometimes a few reserve quivers of horn arrows. I shoot all the time but I don't run out too often. Only happened once after a 6 hour marathon... I think mostly the reason is that I can't find very good parties, they always end up fighting or doing something stupid and wasting time, or getting slaughtered when sneak wears off trying to get somewhere.

i don't know about you, but my exp parties are usually 3-5 hours. You don't have to use ALL of the arrows up you know, but i'd rather have leftovers than run out of arrows.

That isn't entirely true.. at lvl16,30,40, and 50 you get bows that have a substantially increased dmg. At 40, with even wood+mithkabob I outdmg'd EVERYTHING by at least 20dmg and with scorp+meatkabob it was about 50dmg. It seemed like right around every ten lvl's when I got a new bow, my dmg spiked and went way above other jobs. Just about 5-6lvl's into using that bow other jobs like DRK and BLM got the use of new equip and spells that made their dmg come up closer to mine. Meaning after the 5-6 lvls of that bow (happened at lvl 16-30 and 30-40) I had to use the better arrows to keep dmg up. Also, if the exp is only decent (about 110-130 a mob) do you really want to waste those scorpion arrows when iron will still get the job done ok?

I've told other rangers this before and gotten the responce that 'if you have to worry about the cost of arrows, you shouldnt play ranger'. I don't have alot of time to play, and I REALLY hate farming for gil. So that leaves some of us rangers have to find a balence between dmg dealing, and being able to afford it. Its pretty annoying to have someone tell me I shouldn't play a job because I could be 'making rangers look bad'. Just one tip for any others in my position, work on your woodworking. It is worthwhile and a good source of income once you get to scorp arrows. I'm just sick of the arrogance.

sure, you get good bow upgrades... too bad those stop at lvl 50 as most rangers know.

After that, what do you do to supplement your damage? Good ammo. Using anything less than scorpions post lvl 50 will make your damage lower than drks your level. Nobody said you can't play a ranger if you can't afford it, but your equipment woes will quickly spread throughout the server and people will less likely want to invite you into a party.

When your position in a party is always under competetion with Drks, Drg, mnk, etc.... if you don't make yourself look presentable, you won't get an invite. If you're still using irons pass lvl 40, i'd strongly suggest farm a lot more, or consider a new, less expensive job altogether.

As for switching to demon arrows.... i won't be using those till i get my e-bow.
