Iono later lvls of ranger you really get dizzy and get REAlly tired of reading so many monsters when ur scan is SO BIG especially if your gonna try to camp a monster for several hours the huge scanning hurts your eyes XD

Also i find that high lvl rangers STILL do pay a large amount considering Euroytes bow, peacock charm, 2 hawkers knives, merman rings +1, amenit's (sp) mantle +1 and all them other goodies (i.e. that new war gear out for thfs and rng). The only other job that i believe compares to the ranger on how much money is used is probably ninja but ninja u constantly pay 5k ish for 99 shihei while arrows and bullet prices keep rising to around 9k a stack for silver bullets >< and rangers also use their ammo much much faster than the ninja blink.

And the money you use is just Horrible lvling rng/nin  and yes when you lvl ur ninja u can get away with not having blink till like the 20's

o yea i also find that woodworking really doesnt help if ur goal is to supply your ranger with arrows unless your really high but getting there might be hard, I think your better off gil farming

bleh my head hurts thats just my 2 gil

First of all, Bluejoker, Blm's cost is nothing compared to ranger's. (Well, not nothing. But not as much).

The only thing that compares is a Ninja who is tanking with both Utsusemi Ichi and Ni.

      Iron arrows? Expensive? Hahhaahaha.

Wait until lv 60, demon arrows. 10k a stack. Fun stuff. =)

Ninja's been very painful in the gil department, but you strangely start to get used to it if your really serious about taking either gil heavy job up.

And the thing about Equipment lasting longer than other classes is true. For Ninja's and Ranger's certain equpment that offer's a particular stat is more important than updated equipment. The only real time you update as these two jobs is if you get to a level that offer's a better option in stats. Stats are important for all jobs but for Ranger's and Ninja's, stat boosting equipment is far more important and essential I think. So that saves the cost a bit. Other than a few minor things and updated weapons I'm pretty much set to go until AF levels.

I haven't played Ranger before but if its cost is anything like Ninja, even if the equipment's long intervals can help you out a bit, and other classes may have expensive equpment at least you can get gil towards the single goal of getting that item, and leave it at that. As either of these jobs I think you always have to worry about how much gil you have. As a ninja I've started looking at my equipment just to see how much gil I have left far more often than before.

^. You have now seen everything..

IMO, the cost per job is:
          RGN>NIN>BLM>RDM>WHM
But, since getting HQ crafts with woodcrafting is so common, you can actually reduce your arrow cost to nil if you're smart.

Just keep crafting the lower arrows when you're higher in levels - sell them, and use that money to buy the arrows you do need. Simple really o.o

Arrows start costing more? Spend an hour or so more crafting - cost covered.

It's not like mages can resell spells, or find some neat way to reduce costs. We're pretty much limited to either buying off the AH or buying off a vendor, and for the majority of a black mages career, those costs are pretty steep. It gets better when you get into the III and IV series, as they drop off leveling mobs, so the prices tend to plummit.

EDIT: As far as ranger's not outdamaging other melee's - you're just flat out wrong. I've never seen anyone but myself outdamage a ranger, and a ranger does it without having to heal (but you have to wait for the healer to rest anyways, so that's a MOOT POINT dammit >_<). If you aren't outdamaging other melee's, either pick a different sub, different gear, or you're just the wrong race. Ranger's also build TP faster than anyone but a samurai, from what I've noticed, as well. Ranger > melee damage dealer. They're also amazing at BCNM40
          For The Horde!!
Current Gil total spent on gear:
          3,235,000
          Current Gil Value of gear:
          1,151,000
Laughing when new players complain about prices:
          Priceless

Any job can craft. This is not a RNG-specific benefit.

You basically just said, "Make arrows, sell them for profit, and use that profit to buy [the arrows you want]." In that sentence, you can replace [the arrows you want] with [food], [equipment], or [spells].
