ranger damage

does the damage depend more on the weapon or the ammo?

I noticed that gun damage is low and bow damage is high...

I also noticed bullet damage is high and arrow damage is low.


Which matters more?

Just add them up. In the end guns will come out on top, 40 gun dmg + 80 bullet dmg = 120 dmg. Archery can't touch that. But bullets are very costly....

Archery cant touch that? =] try "Euretny bow" ?? forgot the exact name, 73dmg (i think) +23 damage, + arrow damage

No offense, and seriously none intended, but that post was ignorant in the following way:

Str affects bow damage. Str doesn't affect gun damage.

for me, and elvaan ranger, Bows are about equal in power as guns.

How are you doing with your Elvaan. Do you find yourself missing a lot or anything like that?

Want to know since I'm an Elvaan mage right now and considering changing to Ranger but debating if I should create a new character Mithra for it.

An Elvaan ranger is SIGNIFICANTLY more effective than an elvaan mage.

And, i'm doing just fine =)... don't miss much at all (although, i'm considered rich among most NA players. I've plowed through 500,000gil so far )

As long as you pace yourself as an Elvaan Ranger, and farm gil, and buy the best +AGI, +STR +Rng Acc equipment possible, you'll do just fine. =)

Yeah I'm an Elvaan ranger and if you use sharpshot wisely and eat food and get the equipment ASAP you'll be fine.

Awesome guys. Thanks maybe when it's time, I can just sell all my mage stuff and have lots of money to buy the ranger stuff. I'm so going to craft also which will help lots.

Elvaan probably has more HP and hits harder then a Mithra as well right.

This is interesting. I also wanted to be a Ranger but I thought that the Agility of the Elvaan was waaay too low to successfully hit anything.

Glad I was wrong, might actually try Ranger now.

Yeah sorry about that, I got mixed up between AGI and DEX.

Just to clarify, DEX determines melee accuracy and criticals, AGI determines ranged accuracy and evasion. Not that it matters too much, as Elvaan have both of those stats in the crapper.

Like they say, you can make most race/job combinations work with the right equipment, and what accuracy you lose is made up for with extra damage (at least with bows and soforth).
