  • Worming = no more?

A guy in my linkshell has said that in the recent patch they 'fixed' worms so that mages and rangers couldn't solo them like they had been able to do in the past.

He said that a worm will eventually bury itself for good if you take too long to kill it, I.E. escaping it's range, waiting, going back and attacking again. I tried to do this with my samurai using his bow, and indeed the worm dissapeared at about half hp. (It did NOT re-appear)

I've also noticed worms have a much larger casting distance than before, so you can't even get out of their magic range period, at least with the ones casting Stone I.

Any credibility to all this? I hope not.

That's kind of unfair to Rangers who have to solo in the begining :/

hmmm... I don't think I even started soloing werms until after the patch, and I've been doing fine with 'em. Just gotta keep 'em interested in ya. I've had a couple instances when I was first learning how to solo worms... I'd take too long, and the worm would get bored and leave. But now, as soon as you see their name turn yellow, take a shot ^^
      Alright.... who farted?

I dont quite understand how to solo them. I get as far away as I can and shoot an arrow and no matter how far I run after that I still get hit by their Stone spell, what am I doing wrong?

You need to run immediately when they start casting. You're running to late, and they get a lock on you before you're out of range. So even though you're technically out of their spell range, stone will still nail you.

I used to solo worms all the time as a BLM...

Now I am a RNG, and I can safely say that after the latest patch they HAVE been changed.

            2 things were changed.

            A) Their casting range was increased. They easily have 1.5 times the amount of casting distance that rangers/blm/whm have. It is definately larger than before, I was amazed at some of the times I could get hit by their spells (i.e. How can he even see me!)

            B) If you get out of their spell range, then they go to Yellow. After being yellow for a period of time, they burrow, and get all their HP back. Not only that, meanies can steal your worm at this point

I actually am glad they did this... I honestly think worms were TOO easy... the fact you could poison / dia them then run back and not take any damage was a bug.

They are still easier than a good amount of the mobs of their same level... less HP, less DEF. I can solo tough worms in Shakrami with my ranger... I don't think I can solo any other type of mob that cons Tough

I solo'd myself to lvl 22 in no time off worms... subbing a healing class takes the worm farming to a whole new lvl!

Now it's time to take some Abyss Worms.. wish me luck!
