  • Is RNG/NIN obligated to Blink?

If one goes /NIN for accuracy purposes, are they then obligated to be tossing Blink bags around as if they were a NIN main?

I've heard that a NIN can expect to be going through 3-4 stacks of Blink bags a level... while subbing NIN for accuracy is admittedly attractive, I have no plans to be spending insane amounts of play time per level farming gil for ammo and bags (notwithstanding actual equipment costs).

RNG needs enough cash as it is... I think hemorraging money on Blink would just take it over the edge.

In short... what is the role of a RNG/NIN re: Blink?

IMO, you should have at least 1 stack of 99 blinks with you; for the most part, the mob should never be hitting you. However, in those rare circumstances (which could be more common at very late levels), using blink could be a life-saver for the entire PT.

Much like with a war sub, I'll provoke only when absolutely necessary. With nin, I believe the same is for blink. Use it when you absolutely must, but I wouldn't bother if it isn't necessary (as in, the mob will only get a hit or two on you tops).

You will however have to use alot of blink powder while leveling your ninja.

I don't think I would level NIN past 12 anyway... I don't care about DW delay (it's not like I'm equipping archer knives for their damage), NIN has no other job abilities, and RNG/NIN can't get Utsusemi:Ni until lv74. I'll cross that bridge if/when I come to it.

Eh, thats the wrong way to think. You do not want to be a lvl 40 rng with a lv12 nin sub. Cause if your ninja sub was 20 you get all the stat upgrades of those extra 8 lvls from your ninja. No PT like having someone with a subs thats way lower than it should be unless they have no choice.

You shouldn't have to worry about accuracy too much since your mithra, why not sub war instead early on then switch to nin when your get higher.

As it's been pointed out, stats are completely worthless in any long term decisions.

In your example, a 40rng/20nin would have 28 more HP, +1 str, +2 dex, and +2 agi. The HP is the biggest lost; the difference in stats are irrelevant. IMO, it's a waste of time to level up ninja unless you're planning on using it for much longer. At 40+, accuracy is going to get better as equipment gets better; the 2nd dual archer knife will not be necessary.

Well obviously hes planning or thinking about going rng/nin, so those extra lvls won't hurt. Also yes euipment gets better but hey 2 archers knife is alwasy better than one. No other item can give you more bang for your buck. I bought my archer knife for 5k at my server. I don't think any item can give you +10 ranged accuracy for 5k.

This applys to a lot of topics, but this one jumped out at me the most.

Always have an up-to-date subjob, no matter what combo you use.

Here's another reason why you'd keep it up to date: ninjutsu level. You do not want to be a level 50 ranger using the ninjutsu level of a level 12 ninja. Utsusemi will not work, the enemy will just hit you anyways. Might as well not even have a subjob in that case. Trust me, and everyone that says to level your subjobs. It is worth it. Put away your stat calculators and pay attention to the people who can say things from experience.

I can tell you this. No accuracy will be "enough." Just miss a sidewinder and you'll understand

I think Sidewinder comes in the lower 50s. I can't wait ;.; I think that, at this lvl, i'm going to bust out a ninja sub and use it occasionally. That way, I can cast blink every battle to absorb a hit

Btw, how long does Blink last?

I think it lasts 4-5 hits.
