  • Ranger/ Thief??

I am posting this for my friend who i play online with. he has been too busy with school lately to make the post himself and i have the free time.

He is currently a lvl 7 thief on the phoenix server.
he has been usign a dagger so far and has a slight question.
once he becomes lvl 30 he plans on going to Ranger class and using thief as a sub class. Should he continue to use his dagger until he becomes lvl 30 and then changes to ranger. or should he start using bows and guns now and then continue when he is a ranger. this is his first character so it is all new to him pretty much.

money isnt that big of an issue because im willing to help him out when he needs it. but im not filthy rich.. so keep that in mind.

we are both home towns of bastok. ^^ thanks for all the help. tell me if you need anymore info!

Props to my peeps over at fullalchemist.com for making this!

    Welcome to Pheonix!

    Uhm.. yeah..

Anyways, when he started out, he was lvl 1 right? Unless there was some weirdo bug :p Now, when you choose to start leveling Ranger, you will start over again at lvl 1. Now, if you can make a living from lvl 1 with daggers, which you have 0 skill in before you start fighting, don't you think you should be able to do the same as a Ranger with bows when you start all over again from lvl 1? Not only that, but Rangers is really the only job efficent with ranged weapons, sure other jobs can use them, but not as efficently.

Conclusion, stay with Daggers as a Thief, and then when you hit lvl 30 and start leveling Ranger, pick up a longbow, guns isn't really worth it till later levels as a Ranger.

      - Dagger is the best thief weapon long term, and good for rangers as well. Especially since an Archer's Knife gives bonuses to ranged combat.
      - However, levels 15-30 on your thief you will do better with a sword. You'll in general do more damage plus you can use Fast Blade and Sneak Attack together for lots more damage. So keep dagger and sword skills maxed.
      - You could start leveling your archery now if you wanted. You can buy cheap arrows for 700/99. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of good bows for thieves, but its for raising skill, rather than damage. I just use them for pulling.
