  • Worms

Well, i'm not a ranger just yet but I am planning for the near future :D

I am from San d'Oria so I guess at the very lowest lvls i can go and take on carrion worms for fairly good exp. Then, once they become even or decent challenges, what worms do i go to? I can't just jump up to take on worms in qufim, i'll be swat down like a fly. Are their any median worms? (I haven't been very many places in Vana'diel, so that's why i'm asking)

    I'm done - retired.

      Worms!

Head over to the Windhurst area. Head on over to the maze. Worms there are level 18-21.. and you can start owning them for 200xp a pop around level 14.. taking them all the way up to 20 or so if you desire.

A few helpfull tips ive found hunting these..

1- Try to stay away from auto locking targets. Don't turn on melee.. this allows for a much faster escape when the worm tries to bind you or casts Stonega.

2 - If you have the time.. level up a WHM subjob to at least level 6. By the time you have access to the ranger class you will have subjobs enabled and this should only take an hour or 2. This will allow you to heal yourself should you get caught by bind or stonega.. thus elimintating some death and downtime. Also you will be able to cast Barstona which can help with resisting their nukes.

3- Usually you can find a BLM there soloing... team up with one or 2.. each take a worm.. get them down to nearly dead.. and kill them all at once. Nothing quite like a 3-4 mob 200xp + chain to fly through the levels.

4- I can't stress this one enough... don't get greedy.. patience is your friend. Killing will seem extreamly slow at first but with time and levels it will pick up considerably. Most of my deaths were due to impatience and trying to get that "one last shot" before backing off. Better safe than sorry!

Hope some of this helps.. Maze and Korrorka (sp, near bastok) are great places to solo teens and early 20s till you feel like grouping.

            Hrm..

Well you have to be extreamly quick.

Sometimes your going to get hit.. usually you want to make sure your at absolute max bow range and doding in and out. Reason being for the lvl 6 WHM sub is it helps on those instances where you do get hit.. or bound.. can heal yourself for less downtime or even save your life.

            Much h8 for Stoneaga.
