This job is way to expensive to be reasonable.

I am level 21 w/ Hunters Longbow and Beestinger - I miss about 3/4 of the time fighting IT.

Special WS moves also miss an awful lot.

Was wondering if you also knew the recipes for the subcomponents, more importantly the arrowheads such as beetle and horn arrows.

Chocobo Fletching -> Clothcraft(0): Chocobo feather x2 + Wind crystal -> Yield 6

Stone Arrowhead -> Goldsmith(0): Flint Stone x2 + Wind Crystal -> Yield 6

Yes the clothcraft skill is correct for the Yagudo fletchings.

I had to buy mine to make bone arrows. A stack of 12 yagudo fletchings was like 300-400 gil on my server (Ifrit)

And why are there 2 recipes for Iron Arrows?

Apparantly there are 2 recipes for each type of arrow -

Old Recipe's and New Recipes

Old Recipes use the wind crystals and base components -

1 Wind Crystal + 2 Chocobo feathers + Flint Stone + Arrowwood Lumber = 33 wooden arrows

New recipes use the fletchings, arrowheads and shafts and earth crystals

1 Earth Crystal + 2 Chocobo Fletchings + Stone Arrowheads + Arrowwood Lumber = 33 wooden arrows.

Pretty stupid.

Hell of alot of resources for 33 shots imo. $$$

Sucks during these hell levels too because we dont get the accuracy we need until level 30 apparantly.

So 3/5 shots I can expect to miss.

They should rename this particular job from Ranger to Spendthrift with a bow.

I don't play RNG, but arrows aren't that exspensive. They are only like 400 gil for the weak arrows in a stack. I hardly mind that, I could make that quick. But the bows, god, the power bow+1 is 30k, and later ones are 70k, I'd complain about that.

I want you to not use your sword / dagger / club or axe for an entire day - only use the bow -

[ In fact its ok to use weapon - every 3rd swing shoot the bow]

Then tell me that arrows arent that expensive.

Because that is what a ranger does - the bow is his weapon - the ranger can not rely on sword or axe, ranger just not good enough with them - every swing counts - every missed shot is gil down the drain.

Also take into account that just like anyone else you have to upgrade your gear - that includes the ammo.

Iron Arrows cost 1000 gil from the weapon store in Jueno - cost even more in the AH.

Sorry if I don't think you have no clought to say anything - because the truth is you don't and your comment is uneducated.

If a ranger were to use wooden arrows while fighting IT mobs he may find himself scruitinized by the group he is in.

I will play RNG for that.

I was running around trying to get silk to drop all day and killed most monsters with my bow (I was bored to be honest), and did go through most of my stack (I had 13 arrows left, or something).

And I'm talking from a low level perspective, I'm not lvl 70 :\, but I doubt you are either. And money is easier to make at higher levels, I mean, I have friends who have 60k at level 11 (may not be to much to you, but Midgardsormr has extremely bad economy.)

I didn't mean to make you mad, but you act like I think everything is cheap :\....hardly. I'm extremely poor and it's probsbly not going to get better for me. I could hunt Lizzy all day, but really, I rather not.

Again, I'm talking from a low level opinion, I'm not a ranger, I hardly care if my bow is up to date, but I'm saying, you can still make the money. It's not like RNG is the only one who needs money, play a mage for God's sake . Or any melee, we all need money, stop acting elite when your not.

Whoa, somebody said you need to be level 21 in clothworking to make Yagudo fletchings. Not true. You need to be around level 11.

You didn't get me mad at all - I feel that Rangers get the short end of the stick - the more people who play it and see this - the more the word gets out.

And you are right, any Ranger can spend a day or two farming if they need to, but every other class - that time spent farming is typically invested. Meaning that money turns into gear that is later sold and invested into better gear or invested in making crafting skills go up.

Really hard to do as a Ranger. Because that money spent is lost every other shot.
