Extreme, you call my post moronic? You really need to get yourself in check. Complaining that the FFXI ranger is unlike other MMORPG rangers in that it is a bit more REALISTIC is an asinine complaint. Really, I pity you - you must truely believe you are correct.

Track, Lure/Pull, Dagger, Bow, Dagger, Bow, Dagger, RapidShotBow, Dagger, bow. You don't stand in the back, you are up front - I do more than most other party members, so much so that I am mentally burned out by the time a gaming session ends (non stop attention, unlike lazy warriors and monks =p)

Oh you mean like in EQ where they royally SUCK untill they get the uber bow and uber arrows. and then they were sucking paper tanks. I love the ranger class in this game. this is a fictional game.

bow shots are no slower than heavy-damage melee weapons, infact i'm sure i can pump out more ranged (bow) shots than a drk can with a scythe.

the bow shooting is slow because it balances the game out. fair enough you might not like it, but that's your gig

it's not meant to be real no doubt...but the bow & arrow is pretty realistic compared to real life...if they meant it that way or not....i am impressed by the whole mechanics of the way archery is executed.

First off, /ignores the ranting of fera.. 'ranger king'. Rofl, nice pedastal you got there pal. You seem to be in-love with ranger so much that you just can't stand seeing them get criticized. Secondly, for crying out loud its NOT realistic. Sure, in real life it *might* take 5-10 seconds to aim when the target is 100 feet away. But you said it yourself, YOUR CLOSE ENOUGH THAT YOU CAN HIT IT WITH YOUR DAGGER. Does it take that long to aim when the enemy is 2 inches in front of your arrow? Lmao, I think not. And FYI, guns take even longer to fire.. wow you must have to squeeze that trigger pretty damn hard.

Like voodoo said, they are slow-assed as a part of the games balance. The entire game is slow paced, you cant have a job be a quick strike.. it would be overpowered. I never said the job wasnt BALANCED. I said if you want to play a traditional ranger, you won't find it in this game. That is FACT, stop trying to argue with me.

Ranger long bow/gun shooting is slow. With Rapid Shot it evens out to about a Scythe's delay. If you want to shoot fast you can always use short bows/crossbows. They are faster, but would you use those?

The damage evens out too. You can use weaker but faster bows, but that would weaken your WS output, so no one really use those. I guess if you wanna strike fast, they would be the choice.

a traditional ranger, or hunter, has 2 characteristics:
-they are exceptional trackers
-they (usually) use a bow an arrow

i don't know where you're getting this rapid shooting idea from...

Ah, the power of literacy. I'm leaving this thread now, because I end up saying the same things over and over. Ranger is slow as ****, I hate FFXI's ranger. Thats all i was trying to say, quit arguing with me... you cant argue someone's opinion. Take care.

Personally, I'd rather do more damage with one arrow after taking some time aiming it than to burn through multiple arrows haphazardly aiming it. Think of it this way, the delay is sort of a way to control your spending as a Ranger. :D

For one, yes a Ranger is daned awesome. Expensive, but awesome.

It's caled common sence. If your bored with something, you stop playing it. If you don't, either A) You still like the game or B) You have no life and have nothing better to do with your life than to bash people and be a bridge troll.
