  • Hard Knock Ranger Life

Well, I have a friend who imported, and when the world shift came, he ended up on Gilgamesh. Last I talked to him (Tuesday), he was level a 60/30 RNG/THF. I GUESS he was doing ok. It was 3:30pm for East Coast USA, and none of his Jap friends go on at that time .

In any case, It was getting boring, because there were only a handful of ppl his level to go partying with, so we decided to go "Farm" some gil.

Anyway, there is a point to this story, as MAJORLY FUDGING ILL Rangers are, keeping the money supply up and finding parties who are willing to accomidate your bad-assness is a chore. His lvl 60 aint help either, cause he wanted to go after the big dawgs .

Any one eventually get bored? Especially on Gilgamesh.... Geez, the only ill ppl I saw were: A SAM/WAR 60/30, he was chilling outside the cave in the snow area, right past the mines in Bastok; and some lvl 70 guy named "God"... Let's not even talk about him.

if thats the case though your right. i hate the chore of finding a party when i really need one. its very tedius as most people either have one, dont want to fight, or are just retards who cant find the party key. i really wish i could kick people that sucked and cant play.

Hey! HEY! It took ME a while to figure out this whole party thing... First you have to "Seek Party" then get invited... Well, that's the way I do it anyway. And yeah, I meant that while it was late for us, the demi-god-like Jap players were still in school and what not.

And being a ranger is a CHORE! I mean, I was telling the damn Thiefs (One was ill, a SAM/THF, he started all the chains) to control the aggro- and the 2 WAR's to alternate the Taunting, but SOME PPL!!!! I was a little distance from the damn NPC, and the White Mage near me is getting creamed!

Why, why can't i find exp players? I mean, there were TONS of opportunities for there to be some major damage... The only good players we had was in fact the Samurai, I'm only mediocre -_-.

Please, someone tell me how I can run a training seminar to these fools?

            Yes, I've noticed that alot.

"DONT TELL ME HOW TO PLAY"

            then they run off =)

But, for levels 29-31 (10k exp accomplished in 3 hours) I was in an awesome Japanese party that linked Yhaotor (sp?) Mandragoras for 140-220 exp a pop, linking at least 4 at a time and having very low to no downtime. The renkei was as follows: One Inch Punch {me} -> [Transfixion: 50-70dmg] Tachi:Enpi (sp?) -> [Distortion 100-120dmg] Power Slash (from a dark knight^^)

So it ended up doing like 350+ Damage when executed, then there were two magic bursts always at the end, so it was always 500+ damage all together. And this was done an about 65% of the mandragoras. Best PT i've ever had.

you are one lucky dude. most parties i end up the stupid melee people get all paranoid and start randomly using ws so i gotta yell at them all and then they get an atitude and whatnot. *sighs* when my friends get to my level we will have a cool party at least they arent sucky.

                I was lucky that once-

Unlucky scenario - I was level 27 for 5 damn days. FIVE DAYS!! I couldn't find a party for 5 days because of EXP bogarding bastards ('scuse my french). Luckily, some of my japanese friends decided to step in and help me out.

Heh, nice skillchains ya had there Feralis. But I had that problem playing my friends character. Just like fighter said, I only get melee parties. I remember around level 12, I did the Palbourogh Mines mission. It was cool and all, i guess.

But lemme tell you, dumbest PT ever. I mean, the ppl were smart, of course, but it wasn't a good idea to have a lvl 12 hume thf, lvl 14 hume WAR, lvl 14 Galka Mnk, lvl 16/8 Hume PAL/WHM (oh, she was kicking ass by the way. BEFORE I invited her), lvl 15 Tarutaru DRG (his little dragon kicked ass too, it was really cool. Not sure if it was the best job for his race but hey, we're not limited by that in this game ) and a lvl 13 hume WHM.

I mean, firstly, all I was able to use was Fast Blade. It's wierd, I'm stuck on WS lvl 33, but that's a different topic. Anyway, NO ONE wanted to listen, I was trying to make the plans, but these fools just would run up and hack away at shit. Most of the time, I would be the 4th member running in the mines, and they'd fight a Quadov, and totally destroy it before the rest got there. Then they'd continue running.

They all thought they were doing good, then we came to the second level.... Anyone who has died on the second level of Palborugh should know what killed them.... Grand Quadav... OMG..

And they made the dumbest plan too. The lil DRG was gonna lure one by the elevator, and we were gonna mop the crap outta it. The WARs were gonna alternate the Taunting, and the WHM were gonna double heal. I knew it wasn't gonna work, cause the melee ppl didn't know WTF skillchain was .

So, we engaged, and the tactic worked... for a while. I was TRYING to control the aggro, but without Backstab... Well, enough said. One WAR died, HARD. and I'm going, "WTF?" then another WHM, then another WAR. Then the Galka (don't ask how, he was busting the most ass too...). It was just me, the DRG and the PAL/WHM. She was taking the most damage, until I popped his ass in the back with Fast Blade. He turned on me, but missed, 5 times.. it was the best luck I had. Then the little Dragon thingy was getting real gully.

Unfortunately, our luck ran out.... HARD. Well... THEIR luck ran out. The two of them died, i mean, the thing outlasted the whole PT in terms of HP. I had almost full health, and Perfect Dodged my ass onto the elavator while he was busy with them. (don't think less of me, they told my ass that if I could save myself, to leave, cause it was hopeless. They were brave adventurers...) I left the cave and didn't stop running till I was safely in Bastok.

The moral of this story is: Listen to the Thief. They are always the smartest. ECSPECIALLY the high level thiefs. I mean, if they DID reach that high a lvl being a THF.... Nuff said.

I am a WHM .. leaning toward RNG once i get 30. I play consistantly with 2 other people a war and a mnk. We invite people to our little group for when we really want to crank out the exp, but I am the leader of our trio.. nad my word is law. We know what renkei flow together perfectly, and what to burst when.

If you don't like me telling you to do a certain move, and you keep ignoring what we say.. well out of the pt you go.

But usually after 20 minutes of seeing how that game is really supposed to be played most people thank us for showing them what a good group is made of.

What is sad is that one idiot was just plain moronic and would not listen to what we said and was a complete ass... out he went. He has been the only one that did that, to our suprise, we haven't got the "DON"T tell me HOW TO PLAY MY JOB" people yet.

All I can say is if you get in a group and people start to bark orders, listen, inform them that you understand how to play in a nice way, contribute to the group tactics, and you will find you get more invites then being an ass about it.

I'm usually the one trying to whip people into shape - but then they call me an asshole, leave and blacklist me going 'THIS GAME IS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN' 'I WILL PLAY HOW I WANT TO' 'BLAH BLAH IM STUPID WATCH ME PULL A MOB I WASN'T TOLD TO PULL AND DIDN'T ASK IF ANYONE WAS READY OR GIVE A HEADSUP'

Know what I do? I boot the fu<k35 that pulled without telling or warning (note, i told him not to about 5 times, he did it about a dozen times now). He dies because he aggrod the mob. And I laugh and ask if he learned his lesson.
