Ranger?Party composition question

Some friends of mine all went out and bought the game and the rest of us are getting copies delivered on friday.

I'm hoping to play a Taru RNG/NIN but I know I need to get to 30 in a job i'm not going to end up using first.

Our party is going to be
2 WAR (one going for DRK the other SAM)
1 WHM (who is going to sub RDM or BLM)
1 THF (going THF/NIN)

so I was thinking that if I go RDM and subbing WAR or WHM I'll help balance out the party a bit while raising my Dagger skill for when I go ranger (At least I'm hoping thats how it works, will my dagger skill carry over to my ranger levels but just be capped to my ranger level? Can anyone confirm this please?)

Does it matter which class I use to get to 30 as I'll be playing 2 advanced classes after that? Or do certain stats/ abilities carry over?

u can play any advanced class at level 30 with anyjob after a quest..THe weapon skills carry over from job to job too just capped at level 1 and so on till u get high enuff in ranger..for em to not be capped...the traits dont carry over u only get the traits from your subjob and your main job..
