  • Making arrows????

In another post i talked about how i want to become ranger eventually, and i was wondering how i would bo about making arrows? I would like to know so i can start it as soon as possible so by the time i am a ranger i can make them well. Also, does it save you that much money that its worth the initial cost of supplies to build the skill to a efficient level?

Taking care of business working over time!

Well.... if its anything like EQ fletching is very expensive. And at the begining you will mess up alot and lose some money. But after a while you could make arrows well enough that you can make more yourself for the same amount of gold your spent on supplies. Also you can make bows you cant buy in the game. Now this is just an assumption from what I played in EQ. So... dont expect the same thing.

Making arrows is not very difficult. You need arrowheads, a shaft, and fletchings. To make wood arrows you need two flint stones to make 6 handfuls of stone arrowheads. Then you get two chocobo feathers to make 6 chocobo fletchings. Then you need 6 pieces of arrowwood lumber. That will make 198 stone arrows. It's the same for all other arrows except different arrowheads and fletchings and, eventually, different wood for the shaft. For bone arrows you need two bone chips, arrowwood lumber, and 2 yagudo feathers. You can make the bone arrowheads pretty well at level 1 or 2, but you need a skill level of about 12 in weaving to make yagudo feathers. They're so easy and worthless to anybody but rangers that most weavers will gladly make plenty for you if you give them the feathers. For iron arrows you need iron arrowheads and bird fletchings. I think you need two iron ingots (I stopped at bone arrows) to make the iron arrowheads. To make the fletchings you need bird fletchings. You find these quite often using the scavenge ability. You also need ash lumber, I believe. Beyond this I'm not sure, but it follows the same general crafting structure. These arrows will take you quite far.

to get woodworking skills up and make money at the same time take a trip to sandoria and goto ghelsba fort just at the inside of the entrance is alot of tree's in a small area that contain logging points because the area is so small you will find a tree to log within 10 seconds of chopping some wood.
hatchets dont break that easily (unless it was changed in the last patch i know they changed pick axe's so they break alot)
arrowwood lumber is a very common peice to get when logging and before my inventory is full i usually chop one or two peices of wood that sell in the ah for between 2000 and 5000 gil.
btw this area isnt dangerous at all the orc's at that part are really easy to kill ,i think there easy prey to someone around lvl10-12

Yeah logging there is fairly easy and don't worry about the orcs. I was a level 8 black mage and I was killing them easily. They at night what you should do is kill some bats for Wind Crystals. So if you lumber a lot of arrow logs you can synth them to arrow lumber. If you get Elm log sell it you can make good cash. Not too sure if it's really demanding anymore.

So if you log and kill some bats you will be able to craft your arrows pretty cheap. Also if you kill some orcs you can get Fire Crystals which sell for 1.5 k a stack in Sandoria.

but at the end is it worth it to craft?
im lvl 3 rng and im in sandoria jsut for the carpenter thing but with the money you buy suplies and everything , isnt like the same as buying it in ah or in the stores?
another question: where and who drop the chocobo feathers?
i have been looking in ah and nothing, and i really dont know who drops it

Here is where you can get Chocobo feathers:
                Quesse
                Family: NPC
                Found in Areas: Windurst Woods
                Found at Location: K - 12
                Sells for:
                - Chocobo Feather for about 8 gil

                &

                Neigepance
                Family: NPC
                Found in Areas: Bastok Mines
                Found at Location: I - 9
                Sells for:
                - Chocobo Feather for about 8 gil

This is what you would need to make the stone arrows since you're level 3.

                Woodworking (0)
                Yield 33
                Earth Crystal
                Arrowwood Lumber x1
                Stone Arrowhead x1
                Chocobo Fletching x1

It would be more efficient to make your arrows.
