  • Transfering RNG hate?

I keep hearing about how much hate Sidewinder raises, and I'm curious as to how hard it is to get the focus back on the PLD after Sidewinder or Slugshot. I know this is a weird question, I guess I mean to say this: How hard is it to keep a RNG alive in a PT if they do so much DMG? Thanks.

One way to reduce and transfer ranger's hate after a big damaging dealing attack is simply NOT to use bow/gun for a while. Ranger's melee attack is so weak, if another tanker does a decent job of hate-enducing, the hate will transfer.

Another way is to have a THF in your party and do a renkei after you - THF's sneak/deceiving attack will usually tranfer the hate to another tank.

Note, however, if you decide to go all out, and do Berserk + Target Shooting + WS + Wild Shooting all at once, NO ONE will be able to take the monster off from you (unless WHM or PLD does 2 hr). The battle will go on until either you or the monster is dead.

You should not stop using bow/gun for while, but only reduce of the rate of your shooting. One responsibility of being a leader is to pick out the party so that your PT's attacking ability is balanced^^ a lot of the time it means you should invite a PLD or a THF. That way either the PLD can cover you, or the THF can help the tank getting more hate.

And if you have a RDM and a BRD and the monster you're fighting does not have a deadly attack, just fire at will! It's not like the mages' MP would ever run out
