Well i have not unlocked it yet, but it is one of the jobs that i really wanna try. A few of my friends are PUP's and they like it alot.

So i voted Good just cause from word of mouth it sounds like a neat job.

Same havent unlocked it but it looks kinda cool that you can cutomize the puppet to be like ythe npc we get.. I just need someone to help me get to the spot...lol

You can solo the quest at level 30. You don't need anyone to help you.

*The following are my observations. MINE. MIIIIIINE. Not fact, just objective opinions.

PUP is a job that is unfortuately underpowered. It's unfortunate because they have great relationships with their pets that DRGs and BSTs don't have.

The Automatons are customizable to do ANYTHING, and that's awsome.

But, The Automatons and the PUP itself as a job is generally mediocre. And that's sad in an era where Jobs like THF WAR NIN and now DRK are uber leet cause.

I'm not sure the PUP roll in a pt, but I guess they do mediocre damage (because they use H2H) and their Automatons can support. This in itself wouldn't be a problem if PUP as a job was stronger. If they were B- in H2H, even allowing them access to Asuran Fists, they'd instantly be an above-average, decent job.

As it stands, they can't get Quest WS (to my knowledge) and even CORs can (cause CORs are Bish in Marksmenship, at least I THINK so....)

So honestly, I think PUP is a decent job, but expect to be in the position THFs and DRGs were in last year (and possibly still are, for the most part) and look forward to an uphill battle your entire career....

From someone who actually has the job past level 50, the job would be a little overpowered if its H2H skill was any higher. The reason why is because any parsed exp session at least under 50 will tell you that the job has insane DoT. Mediocre damage is right, but mediocre damage + mediocre damage = very good DoT. As puppetmaster it is hard for any job pre-50 (speaking from my personal experience) to outdamage pup over the course of a party. The DoT and the fact that the puppet can be customized to do anything from enfeeble to backup voke and support with flash, makes the job's potential obvious. After playing it with only slightly above average gear, i can see why they limited the job's H2H skill to C.



Hand to Hand is not a weak fighting style at all, and actually you can see by parsing any mnk with even average gear that it is quite broken. Damage ratings don't even matter as much on H2H weapons as they do on other weapons (which is why multi-hit weaponskills were nerfed after mnks started getting ahold of relic knuckles with 1 damage rating on them.) I think we can expect great things from this ob as long as people continue to give it a chance. Anyone who pays attention to only the player and not the pet as well will not understand, just as it is if you look at drg/smn/bst without thier pets.

well... i was PTing with a leader of one of the best JP HNMls on rag (aka, he had pimp +1gear.) and he was averaging 230 raging fists <_< but this was before AF patch
yesterday, i PTed with a 67 pup, notsure howmuch dmg his hits were doing because i wasnt paying attention <_< but his dragon kick? or howling fist was doing around 300-500 so...maybe all they needed was new WS? iono :x

I think it's a good job. The first ten levels or so have been pretty much non-stop because of my automaton's attachments making it almost invincible, so I was able to get thru those levels with little to no intervention on my part. Subject to change, of course, but still, it was an impressive display nonetheless.

I think that if people are going to be more accepting of PUP, they need to stop focusing on the puppetmaster himself and direct their attention towards his automaton. The automaton's strength puts the PUP's to shame; it hits harder than him, can cast magic, takes hits better than him, has more HP, and I'm sure it has more friends than the PUP does. If SE added a feature to the game that let parties invite just the automaton, the PUP community would be left out in the cold while their automatons had all the fun.

After you pass level 10, you will most likely be stronger than your puppet by a little. The damage output in each party is usually 15-20% from the master and 10-15% from the puppet. I think its a really good match up. Its not a job for those who want big weaponskill numbers because the huge damage pup can do between its two parts is under the radar. Weaponskills are not that great, but all the little hits from both characters add up really fast.

Well I hate to say I am lvl 10 atm. I want to lvl it but I want to lvl other jobs past dunes . . . . which is a pain (which alot know this ofcourse).

What I seen with the beginning frame and the mage frame and what I read up on them is that this job can do more (but I say that alot with every job I pick up) but as I see it goin to be a nice job to lvl up ^_^ but since I only got to lvl 10 and haven't seen more it can do I gave it a decent. To the other PUPs and others waiting to lvl it see you in the dunes lol.

I changed my vote from decent to good, because of what I did today in my pt. I went back to leveling up Puppetmaster (because I missed the lil guy so much XD) and I got a pt invite right away as a pup/war. There was a DRK and a SAM in that pt, and I alone was outdamaging them without food and without any other enhancements really (with the exception of the BRDs songs, but everyone got those). My Automaton was outdamaging the others at times, and even with the Stealth Screen attachment equiped (- Enmity on the Automaton), he still pulled a ton of hate. I felt we made a really great pair and great DDs put together. Looking forward to this job at later levels.
