Gear for damage (which is what you should be doing regardless.) Ditch your Earth Mantle and Knight Belt, they're both rubbish both for Maat and EXP. You want Amemet Mantle and Life Belt. Jelly Ring will do you good here too.

Also, you should be using a Company Sword since you don't have Joyeuse.

Maat PLD is very easy. If you come prepared you win. Just bring a hi-potion tank, enough juices, and beat his face in. I didn't even sleep for TP. I think I used meat food.

Edit: The fight is even easier now if you have Gothic pieces since you'd have a native form of paralysis.

I have to agree. I went in with a full DD setup and he went down VERY quickly. Vorpal blade decimated Maat. I was able to get about four of them off.

Reprisal must also make the fight loads easier than it used to be I'd imagine.

Make sure you have a Hauby and that sword I can't remember the name of. Most of us just call it the chainsaw sword. It's fantastic when you get those Vorpal Blades off.

              I...erm...no.

Again, necros, and aside from that a -Acc Sword with a huge amount of Base D less than things like Espadon/+1, Company Sword, or Hrotti is in fact a terrible idea for Vorpal Blade.

If you're going to necrobump at least don't post garbage.

Macuahuitl +1: (Macuahuitl +1 - FFXIclopedia, the Final Fantasy XI wiki - Characters, items, jobs, and more) another good sword is Espadon +1 (Espadon +1 - FFXIclopedia, the Final Fantasy XI wiki - Characters, items, jobs, and more) slightly higher dps, no acc penalty but lower att

                  Whoosh.

And like Callisto said, Macuahuitl isn't good unless you're kiting or just plain not hurting the enemy at all.

                    Re: Maat Fight Equip

Thanks. I blanked completely. It worked very well with me when I was using Vorpal Blade on Maat.

The only time I was kiting was when he used Invincible. The moment he used it, I flashed him and started running around the room until it wore off.

My Maat fight was pretty straight forward. As I said before, I went in with a full attack setup. I didn't tank Maat, I just attacked.

I went in with quite a number of HP potions, but only ended up using about three. I popped Sentinel after a minute - to which he used Invincible. Good timing, eh? So again, I flashed him and ran. Once his wore off, I went right back and continued my assault. Used my Invincible once Sentinel wore off.

All in all, I think I was able to pull off three Vorpal Blades, maybe four. I had some STR gear (Hauby, Chiv Chain) for the fight as well as some STR/Attack food. He went down in about five minutes.

                    Good fight.
