1. I'm saying that a well geared NIN will, and should, have hate on him at least 60% of the time. Not more, because, if you have a Samurai firing off WS left and right, what are you going to do with just Provoke and Damage?
Pre-merits, it's a crappy Ninja who doesn't have hate on him at least 80% of the time. At merits, frankly you won't even be tanking.
Did you know NIN is the only job in the game with no natural job abilities (This is excluding two hours).
Did you know that until this update, Brd also had no natural job abilities, excluding Disco Ball?
I wish I partied with your friend.
Judging by your responses, no, you don't wish you had partied with my friend. It's people like you who wouldn't give a Puppet Master the time of day that made him have to Campaign for all of his merits, regardless of how well he played his job.
And to nitpick, your DD tiers are horribly messed up.
If there are two tanks they damn well better be equal.
And so far, you have been alluding to the fact that Ninja is the, well, better at everything than a Paladin is.
You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be misqouted and then used against you.
I don't have a big ego, it just has a large mouth.
Tier 2
Ranger
Dragoon
Ninja
Blue Mage
Paladin
Corsair
Tier 3
Puppetmaster
Dancer
Beastmaster
Basicially, the way you tiered it shows both your ignorance and favortism. See, you actually count PLD and NIN in DD. DD is part of the tanking, but like COR, its not exactly why we invite them. Great if they do it, great if they don't, but most people won't care.
So those jobs shouldn't even really be in your tiering consideration. Improving DD for those jobs is a personal choice in playstyle. As a COR, yes, I will work to get the best DoT I can. Not many CORs out there do and most people treat it like BRD. Regardless of what I do, I'm invited for support first and whatever else second.
When I invite a PLD or NIN, damage is not the highest thing on my mind. The factor is if you can keep hate. I don't care how you do it, I just care that you keep hate. That's all you're there to do. If you're a NIN and I'm a RNG, though, I know for a fact I'm gonna have to tone my play down. I could rip hate off a NIN even using lower tier ammo. This without really trying.
It will even happen if you put the most tricked out endgame NIN up against the least tricked out 75 RNG. But hey, guess RNG is tier 2, eh?

Pfft.
Having both RNG and NIN at 75, I agree with this. My RNG on my worst day can rip hate off my NIN on it's best day. I've actually had to "forget" to use Velocity Shot in merits just to keep things from getting out of hand. And not that anyone notices, but there's a reason I save Winder until I know it can finish the mob.
Oh well, at least he didn't put RNG in tier 4 behind the meleeing WHMs.

i both plds and nins but plds you guys gotta not tank in merits
seriously, you lose hate to 1 good WS and parse literally like 3% which is why people bitch and just get a samurai
however homam/heca 8/8 sword, suppa, lots of extra acc, joytoy/idk what they like eating meat kabobs is EXCELLENT
the damage is at least as good as your average pickup melee and you hold hate significantly better
If we don't like something, collectively, if our hatred for it throbs like an abscess beneath every thread, does that mean that they're doing something right?

As hard as it may be, don't take this game or your characters too seriously. I promise you - the guys that really own your account don't.
Oh, I get it. Looks like I'm going to lose this anyway, because it is everyone against me, so I'll say PLD is fine and is getting everything that it deserves and is finally a powerful tank, and Ninja is retardedly overpowered because it has one more shadow than subbable Ni, and can dual wield.
I quote myself because I can. What I'm saying is, it's far harder to be an efficient Ninja tank than it is to be an efficient Paladin tank, and that is a fact.
