Oh, I get it. Looks like I'm going to lose this anyway, because it is everyone against me, so I'll say PLD is fine and is getting everything that it deserves and is finally a powerful tank, and Ninja is retardedly overpowered because it has one more shadow than subbable Ni, and can dual wield.

NIN can out-DD the hell out of PLD while tanking just from having -25% Delay reduction (which translates into 33.33% more DMG/sec on your weapons) and from being able to tank with Berserk up while eating Sushi. Also, having a 3-hit physical WS which Paralyzes helps a lot.

Until the 60's, PLD can't really do as much damage as NIN while NIN takes less damage. Is it overpowered? No. But it's hard to argue that it's not already on equal footing. It's not about the extra shadow, it's about having two Utsusemi spells to alternate, with A-ranking Eva and Parry, with the ability to do good damage. PLD can make better hate and protect party members far more efficiently, at the expense of taking more damage and doing more damage.

I am referring to pre-merits, just so we're clear.

What's the difference in being a lower 'tier' DD and not doing much DD at all which is what I am referring too? I was actually agreeing with you that PLD's are not good at DD compared with NINs. Even with Hecatomb, Justice Sword, and scores of other DD equipment I haven't been too impressed with PLD's DD capability to even bother.

Personally, I find that I usually push to be a more DD PLD mostly when farming and/or doing tasks that aren't exping or endgame. Without a lot of seemingly difficult to obtain gear, a PLD has a lot of issues holding hate and outputting worthwhile damage in DD-PLD (hybrid maybe) mode during merit parties. Unless I'm fighting Imps, I usually have mostly blood-tanking gear equipped because, imo, it just helps the party move efficiently.

NINs, for the most part, can output damage OK for most levels, and (should) exceed a turtle PLD in a meripo in terms of damage. Whether or not you feel NIN is being left out without any recent updates, I still feel the majority of this argument is moot. A PLD can hold hate and protect/cure members with more ease than a NIN can; a NIN can easily out-DD a PLD and still hold hate (if he is a half-decent tanking NIN). Who gets more frequent invites to merit? In my experience so far, PLD invite rate kinda slows down after hitting 75.

Goes back to that idea of not fixing something unbroken... or something like that,
