PLD lvl 12 ---- want to lvl to 60 need advice

Well after alot of time spent playing my RDM and lvling all my other jobs, I am getting that urge to try to take my pld job to 60+. I find that as much as Ilike my RDM I think pld would be much more useful for doing coffer runs, helping other LS members with advance job quest and just other random stuff. With that said I understand how to use my PLD job I think but I am not really well versed at it. I have only had one pty with my PLD and think I did an ok job, just looknig for some sound advice so that I can be an effective PLD when ptying.

At low levels up to 60 your role will basically be turtle tank most of the time. I have a Galka pld (lvl43 currently) and all the parties I have been in have invited me as a turtle tank.

You use a sword and shield have plenty of Def/VIT/AGi grear (you will find eisen or Kamp gear from 29-40 is what you will be wearing as that has great VIT+ and Def for those levels as well as additional AGI.)

Your role is to stand their and be punished and keep hate directed at you. At certain levels + emnity gear is usefull to have. You will balance hate with cures, provoke (war sub is a must) Flash (at 37+) and sheild block mob weaponskills and aoe attacks when the ability is availaible. from 35+ you will learn to cover vunrable party members if they take hate you can't get back.

Bonuses are a good def and vit statistic, Mp refresh from lvl35. you must eat defensive food for tanking i.e. fish mithkabobs.

However sometimes you can be invited for a dd role as many times discussed on this forum, where you need to keep a few Acc+ and ATT gear handy. also its worth keeping skilled up 2H sword for a DD role if required.

Pld is also great for farming especially if you go /rdm, the boost in Mp, entheebles and sword enhancements make you an excellent farming character.

Paying attention to the incomings; you want get your draw your sword and Provoke before anyone else manages to do a thing to the monster.

At Lv. 12, the routine is simple: Provoke > Cure once or twice > Provoke > Cure once or twice > (repeat). If you're not missing enough HP for a full Cure I or II, Cure people in the party who are. Never stop using Provoke in battle; use it as soon as the timer is up.

Rest for as much MP as you can between pulls, and carrying juice drinks to ensure adequate supply of MP in a pinch. Defense food is good for you; Boiled and Steamed Crabs will be your best food for a long time. (If you have really good armor, however, may want to switch to attack food against Yuhtunga Mandragora.)

Get a size 2 shield, and upgrade to size 3 at Lv.28 (Kite Shield). Priority in gear is good armor (Defense, VIT, and maybe AGI) first, and good sword a close second.
