Barfira over Rampart's Magic Shield?

Is it just me, or is it that when you have a bar spell active, Rampart's Magic Shield is nullified by that Barspell? Is this some sort of bug? Because today was fighting Goblins in Bibiki Bay, and when i used Rampart seeing the Goblin use a BombToss(BLM stun down), i saw my Magic Shield instantly wear off...

I was confused and checked my buffs, and it had my Rampart DEF Up, and the other buff was Barfira, yet nowhere was to be found of my Magic Shield Buff...what gives..? Is this supposed to happen? The recent patch doesnt seem to indicate this being a problem(being said that it wont overwrite other buffs...). When the buff wore there was no Magic Shield being worn off, only the DEF Boost. What gives? D:

Rampart works like Stoneskin essntially, so it absorbs magical damage for the duration of Rampart or up until a certain amount of damage has been inflicted upon you.

So in this case Rampart absorbed it maximum amount of possible damage before the duration of Rampart had passed and hencefourth your magic shield effect disappeared.

To me, 39 ~ 58 damage from Bomb Toss at that level range is very low. It seems like Ramparts absorbed most of the Bomb Toss's damage and wore off immediately. I don't know, maybe the software is programmed in a way that it displays the "Magical Shield effect wears off" message before the final damage result.

This is correct.

This is also correct. Stoneskin effects also behave in this way.

There is no interaction between Barspells and Rampart's Magic Shield effect aside from a Barspell perhaps reducing the base damage taken before it's applied against the Magic Shield.

Ok, so this is what happens and it's normal?
1) WHM cast barfira
2) PLD uses Rampart
3) Gob tosses a bomb
4) The bomb's damage is more than how much Rampart can obsorbs, so Rampart effect runs out.
5) When Rampart effect runs out, barfira effect runs out with it.

I think the original poster's question is if it's correct for barfira to run out with Rampart.
I think it shouldn't... But it sounds like is happening.

Ahhh i see, i kinda thought it was that, but due to Rampart kinda overwriting other effects or other effects overwriting Rampart's Magic Shield from before i just wanted to make sure. I blame the lag too..

TaruBST: Nah thats not what i was talking about, i was wondering if Barfira nullifies Magic Shield from Rampart in some wierd fashion, and i wasnt sure if Magic Shield had a cap(like Stoneskin) or something of that sort...or if Barfira just killed my Magic Shield. The question is, is if Barfira helps Magic Shield become stronger, or if Barfira doesnt do anything in conjunction with Magic Shield until its worn off.

Thanks for clarifying guys. As for the Bomb Tosses, it was kinda wild but most regular ones were 100-300, Suicide 800(duh), and that one up there was my lowest with Rampart.
