Re: Yet another ENM strat threa don a jobs forum
I've done this one a bunch of times. It's pretty easy, though there's also a fair amount of luck involved. Basically head on it with some yag drinks (3-4) and au laits (2x pear is nice). For gear, go with your regular tanking gear or swap in any DD-ish pieces you have lying around. No need for an insane DD set for this though.
Once you get in cas protect, drink a yag and an au lait and head right in. While fighting don't be afraid to use JAs, even Invincible, since the timer may get reset by a gob roll.
The fight is just one long slugfest which you will win thanks to the drinks and being more intelligent than the mob AI (aka not using lame ws's, curing with reasonable spells). Occasionally however the moblin will simply flat out cheat.
It's not really a big deal if he gives your opponent 4x Invincibles - you can hack through that. No, the real cheat is when he restores your opponent to 100% full health after you've already laid in some serious damage. You've got enough time to slug it out with the doll once, beating through 2x or 3x his total hp isn't going to happen though.
The other "cheat", which is rare, is when the mob gives the doll a 300% Spirit's Within right at the start of the fight when it still has 4000 hp or so. That can in theory 1 shot you, though I've never had it happen to me.

The ENM is "Pulling Strings" and you'll find it tucked away in Newton Movalpolus. It's fairly easy to get to though.
Head to North Gustaberg, up to the far North Eastern end. A cave there zones you to Oldton Movalpolus. A short way in from the zone you'll find Twinkbrix, a moblin who wants to gamble with you for entrance to the ENM battlefield. You can bet up to 10k gil which nets you up to a 50% chance to win the die roll. If you lose you can bet again right away.
Once you win you can give Twinkbrix another 2k and he'll teleport you right to the ENM gate.
A few of other notes:
- The ENM battle caps your sub at 0. I usually go Pld/Blm as a result just to make getting home easier.
- Don't touch the moblin in any way, only the doll (fantoccini). If you do anything to the moblin he'll join the fight on the doll's side.
- When you win, this is a pretty straightforward fight. The fantoccini only attacks with swords and will only cast spells or use JAs as a result of the moblin's dice rolls. When you lose it's also fairly straightforward - the moblin can, and will occasionally, roll something that you simply can't beat. You don't lose xps so it's not a huge deal really.

That gear should mostly work great Emp. The only exceptions are the Jelly Ring and the Titanis Earring. It's a 60 cap fight and the Jelly is 63 and the Titanis is 61. Even if you went with those slots empty though you'd probably be fine.
For reference the last time I went I think I had
Weapon: Gluttony Sword
Shield: T.K. Army Shield +1
Ammo: Bibiki Seashell
Head: Gallant Coronet
Neck: Royal Guard's Collar
Earring: Drone x2
Body: Gallant Surcoat
Hands: Gallant Gauntlets
Ring: Chrysoberl x2
Back: Amemet Mantle
Waist: Life Belt
Legs: Gallant Breeches
Feet: Gallant Leggings
Overall I'd say your gear set is even better suited to it than mine was though.

Very nicely done Emp! And congrats on the Refresh Musk! I'm still hoarding mine but given the (relative) ease of rewinning it, it seems like it should be a fairly useful item for some things.
One other thing this battle shows - easy it was to miss that the Yag drinks had worn off, no? It's good to practice noticing that for the Maat fight since the time can really slip away on you when you're busy and doing something unfamiliar.

Re: Yet another ENM strat threa don a jobs forum
Yeah I did miss the yag drink (because ever since 50 I've had a refresher.. just me and her 'staticing') right at the start... after the second Cure 3 I looked at my MP then I looked at my tabs... HP was up, but the MP one was missing..... XD
To PyroElf
All I really did was run in and kept an eye on my HP/MP while bashing/getting bashed, and whipped Vorpal Blade as soon as I hit 100+ TP. (On two occasions I got 120TP from the Moblin, once it pinged me to 210 TP the other was right after I had ws'd so I got 2 straight )
I somehow had a brainfart and completely forgot about Flash, I didn't use it even once.. neither did I use any JA's which was kinda silly. So you should be able to do it no sweat, just do it in the traditional Paladin way.... Attrition!Quotes
