This is especially good if you have a refresher and are getting upwards of 4mp/tick. The bonus allows you to hold hate for longer. WRT Strength Rings, you don't have to use a STR+ ring--getting a nice Mighty Ring instead and activating it periodically will give you a nice buff if you can afford it. This gives you 3 ring swaps:

+VIT Swap (for after you've consumed the "cream" from the top of your mp pool
+Mana Swap (for getting that extra little buffer of mp)
Mighty Swap (for a little boost to your attack)
That's what I've done since I started with PLD, usually start the chain with MP gear and then swap to defensive gear after I burned the extra mp.

Although one time I had some issues with a noob player who didn't understand why I was doing that, it's fun when people rather start talking about their high lvl PLD friends instead of asking why you are doing what you are doing.

One thing though, I can't always do that, when you have DDs that like doing WS at the begining of the fight the +Emnity from some of the gear is a must because I don't take enough damage at the begining of the fight so I can compensate the lack of +Emnity with Cures.

It's not a big issue really, I get around +170 mp from MP gear or so but it's useless if I can't keep hate well, so it's become situational at higher lvls.

      Re: Question on rings.

IMHO, low level mp ring are usually expensive (I mean for OP's level). Swap MP+ hairpin is a lot cheaper

I had partied with PLD-cook in the past pre-level 40. Those PLD who could make juice in between battles really rocks
      Server: Quetzalcoatl
      Race: Hume Rank 7

I would actually swap Astral rings and +Vit rings up until about level 41 and it worked really well for me. I am not sure if you were saying to macro the Mighty Ring in and out, but I think if you remove it, you lose the enchantment. (If it works like High Breath Mantle).

I never got Astrals for PLD because at lower levels -50 HP kinda hurts. But you are right, at those levels Hairpins are a good option.

Depending on race RSE is a great thing to have to make MP last longer, specially since before Flash Cures are an important tool for keeping hate. In my case (Hume) I used RSE slacks and Brass/Silver Hairpin +1, +48 MP at lvl 31 can get you through at least an extra fight, it was really nice.

(Although at the time I already had +MP from merits so that made things even easier.)

Edit > Davitron made me realize Astrals are great for Galka at those levels. ^^
