    Job Adjustments mentioned at TGS 06

    PLD -Adjustments Planned: Improving the performance of paladins when fighting in continuous battles.
    Possible Adjustment - Add a job Ability at lvl 65-75 call it Prayers for the Passing or Prayers for the Fallen. When active this ability restores HP and MP to party members within the area of effect upon recieving EXP points. The amount is based on the amount of EXP gained, splitting the Number of points evenly between HP and MP restored.

    Example: Ability is used, a Foe is defeated, party members each receive 200 EXP points, 100HP and 100MP is restored to each party member.

    This ability would have to have a short enough recast timer that it could be used every couple of fights.

    what do you think? I don't think this would be something that would unbalance the job, but I do think it would help get PLD closer to NIN in terms of chaining ins Merit parties.

    How? Merit parties don't need more healing or more MP, they have that. They only need more damage output. When PLD can buff like BRD or melee like WAR people will start inviting PLDs for other reasons than pity.

    Another solution would be to give PLD an innate +1000 enmity so one strike will seal hate. That way PLD could team up with a bunch of MNK/WARs and outdamage WAR burns but it would require more MP for healing. Having +1000 enmity would be really stupid for everything else, though.

      Well, I'm just very glad to see that Square-Enix is actually taking steps to keep the PLD job active 65+. ^.^

          Perhaps they're going to further enhance shields for us or something, the idea of an ElixirGa type ability seems a bit odd to me. I wouldn't mind having more damage reduced on a successful block or *Gasp* ALL damage reduced by chance or something. No matter what they do, at the end of the day we're still taking damage. Knowing SE though, they'll probably give us autoregen and call it a day.

            Yeah, it is, which is why I believe SE will simply nerf Utsu 2 to L38.

            That will probably also be added. In fact, this was the first thing I thought of after reading their plans for PLD.

              seeing how my War and Mnk die in almost every PT, having PLD instant hate grabber doesn't sound totally unreasonable...

                If they move Utsu:Ni up a level it doesn't matter what they'll do to us, we'll be back in style for a little while.

                Last night my party was chaining VT Magma Crawlers and there wasn't a single point between fights that I had to rest. The only dangerous ability they have is Incinerate which does more depending on their amount of health. When fighting VT the battles are as continuous as quickly as you can pull.

                Though, when fighting IT they tend not to be so continuous. Usually I'm forced to rest every third or fourth battle, and every once in a while everybody needs a full rest. If they were to help us fighting continuous battles while fighting IT we'd be almost god-like while fighting VT and under.

                I suppose they could give us a JA with low recast that increases our HMP and HHP vastly for a short period of time? This would let us rest, without having to switch to a staff, for a much shorter period of time. Maybe for just one tick between pulls?

                  ... I am not sure what S-E is going to do. To me it is natural for PLD to take damage and use MP. Does S-E want PLD to be self-sufficient from external Cure and Refresh?

                  Something like convert damage-taken into MP would be interesting to me~

                    We have several of those already. As long as you're not using a WS at the start of the fight I don't see how the Paladins you party with can't at least control what's happening with Cover or even Flashing the mob while it's attacking you. Alternative option: Stop being awesome.

                          I was recently meriting on Trolls, I hadn't done much on PLD lately because I went back and was working on other jobs a bit, like DRG, DRK, SAM, MNK for fun.

                          When meriting on trolls party set-up was MNK/NIN MNK/NIN THF/NIN RDM/BLM WHM/BLM and Me. There were really no hate problems what so ever, I was a little disgusted with the MNK/NIN thing because it was a waste really.

                          But with the troll defence down move they do MP would become an issue late in the chain. Something like that ability would help in those situations. Because I take their continuous battles to mean multiple battles.
