Are all rapiers piercing weapons?

Joyeuse deals piercing damage but for someone with a daily schedule that sword is impossible to obtain, so I'm looking at other swords for piercing damage.

Rapiers in general have a low DPS, so in most situations they just plain suck for PLDs who can use the superior bastard swords, however, perhaps they would be worth it against flying mobs.

Also, in case rapiers are all piercing, are fleurets also piercing? They seem quite similar to rapiers.

Yeah, I tried switching between Centurion's Sword and Fleuret in Promyvion to see if I noticed a difference, and Centurion's with it's larger damage code still did more damage. I suppose you could parse a Promy run with two swords with the same damage code (a regular, slashing sword, and a rapier type sword).

I would assume any of the rapier class weapons, Rapier, Fleuret, Degen, etc. all would do the same type of damage.

I don't think any mobs in promyvion are weak to piercing.

I think that all Rapiers are piercing. I will test it Wednesday night on my Limbus run.
We are doing SE Apollyon and the crabs on the second level are immune to slashing
type weapons. I usually use a rapier (I think my normal hits work) on them to help
with some hate and so I can keep my shield on (as opposed to using a staff). This
week I will try to buy a fleuret and see if my normal hits do damage.

edit: also I can try them against a Skeleton there, b/c they are immune to piercing,
so I should do 0 damage on normal hits.

I don't think any mobs in promyvion are weak to piercing.

That may indeed be true (I have no evidence otherwise), but a significant portion of the community swears that Empty monsters are all weak to piercing weapons.

Seriously? I have never seen anyone claim that. I have also never noticed them take exceptionally high damage from piercing weapons.

Also, I think people would bring 4x thf setups to promys if piercing really did work that well.

Joyeuse is obtainable, I have a normal life as well its just working out how to do it. ToD is possible to acquire camping after that all you need is to be online in the window for 3 hours with the LS. The sword is 100% drop so you only need to make the effort once.

Does need you to commit to spend a chunk of time to get the Tod though

I've been camping Charybdis for hours for days and I never saw the bastard. Even if I did get ToD, what are the chances that I'm not asleep or at work during the window? Yep, minimal. And even if I somehow manage to get ToD and the window is viable, I won't be able to get any help to kill it because my LS is almost entirely NA and they're barely online at the same time as me.

Obtaining a joyeuse seems about as likely as having a plane crash land on me.

Assume you know she's has placeholders so you need to take them down for a pop to happen. Nice place to level your NPC while you work on it, if you can convince LS buddies as well Zuug the shoreleaper pops there so Sirens Hair and Widescan on BST or RNG can see Charybdis from Novv the Whitehearted as well so there are multiple camp choices.

I'm not saying its easy I'm just saying its not impossible. To kill her you can get away with 1 level 75 tank a bard with both mambos and a good healer. Its hard and I used a full LS zerg but I do feel your pain. I'm in the UK and struggled till I joined a Euro LS.

All I'll say is the feeling of getting one is worth the pain of getting to that point. We tried to trio it first up and got wiped before the LS came in, I tried to main heal on PLD of all things but just didn't have the MP to keep up our taru NIN when shadows failed.

Yea I know she has PHs and I can solo them just fine. Most of the time there are other people there killing em so I just watch, though. Also, Euro shells are a myth! >_<

I think they're talking about dps, but maybe I'm wrong. In a sense, WS isn't that good enough to keep hate for a PLD unless SE decides to give PLDs a bit more power in that respect. It's the dps however, that can make some difference, since the consistent shin kicking is more reliable than the occassional wtfmiss bodyslams...

Sorry to hear Europe on you server has not represented as yet, maybe worth trying yourself. We were a dying LS about 18 months ago with the shell holder retiring and lot of people leaving, at the low eb we were down to about 6 or 7 people. Now were around 30 or so maybe more with 25 @ level 70 or above, just setting up out first in house Divine Might run having already done optical hats.

On the server as whole Europe does well with Eurozone HNMLSes now existing for sky gods.
