PLD and SATA

As of late I have been pt with a lot of THF. Everyone knows THF deal uber dmg with SATA and that kind of dmg is always welcomed. Now being a Taru PLD I can unload cure/flash at will and dictate hate as I see fit. With that in mind I am growing tired of THF trying to land SATA behind me. I have yet to lose hate or see the mob even flinch when the SATA is landed behind one of the DD. It makes tanking extremely diffcult when I have to lose hate to land SATA. On top of that I have to watch my DD hp dwindle during the set up.
If your a THF or PLD let me know your thoughts on how you feel the SATA should work.

SATA at start was pretty much the only time THF could do it behind me when I play PLD.
I just tell them to SATA from the DD. 80% of the time, mob won't even turn. Even if it does, 1 provoke or flash usually pull it right back at me. If not, a single ability will do it.

After 60 it gets easier to PT with THF with their assasin trait.

The most successful tactics I've seen for this pre-60 is to do the skillchain at the start of a fight instead of the end:

PLD Flash monster
DD SA+WS to start skillchain (and thus turning the monster)
THF SATA WS to close skillchain and drop hate on the PLD
PLD Provoke monster
(also has the nice effect of letting BLMs Magic Burst pretty much whatever they like).

This generally results in rock-solid enmity, but requires good coordination and restraint on the part of the DD and THF.

After level 60 and Assassin, this really becomes a non-issue.

Pre 60 that's how my semi-static did things. I was the PLD, and the THF and RDM were friends of mine. We picked up a BLM a WHM (or BRD) and a trick partner of some kind (SAM, DRG, DRK, generally). We always went for SATA at the start of the fight. And sometimes (very rarely) if the mob was taking forever to die, the THF could do a second SATA off of the Trick Partner, and I never lost hate.

The sooner the better, I say.

I agree with what everyone has already said, and I want to throw in that if your DD
are taking a lot of damage during SATA set up you can always let your Whm know
you will take care of curing them for extra hate.

I usually try to heal the DD for the added hate and when SATA is starting from the beginning of the battle it works wonders. The coordination is what kills me. It sounds as though I have been dealing with some amateur THF on my server.

Sadly at least at my current level THF is a rare comodity. Yet each time I am reminded how to set up for SATA. I remember posting a while ago to ask how to do it, this was because the THF (first time I had partied with once since they picked up TA) was SATA off our DD-WAR/MNK which at the time was killing him or almost doing so.

Typically I confirm my second voke, with the THF prior to the first fight. It seems to work best since with the SATA I have only to voke to further lock in hate. But yeah...coordination works wonders.
