    Hello fellow Paladins!

I am nearing level 54 and for the first time in quite a while, I see an option for equipment in my ear slots. I currently wear two Drone Earrings and was wondering whether I should upgrade to one or two Hospitaler Earrings. The +5% cure potency looks great for grabbing a bit more hate. Perhaps I should macro them in for cures only?

I have not yet looked at my auction house so the Hospitaler Earrings may not be available and/or affordable. However, any advice or suggestions you may have is appreciated.

    Cheers!

Well, since they are rare, you would only be able to wear one anyway, so that's one question answered. But I have no idea how rare they are, so I can't really suggest much in that department.

It's rare, so you could only have one.

Seems logical if they're available and affordable, however, a 5% bonus on a Cure III would be about 10 HP, and on a Cure IV about 20 HP; the extra hate generated by this wouldn't be all that significant compared to all the other hate-generating abilities a PLD owns.

Basically, if you can afford it, every little bit helps, but it probably won't make or break your character if you can't afford or camp it.

I'd also macro it into Cures, the shield proc boost provided by the +AGI is too valuable to lose compared to 5% cure potency, I think.

I agree with this 800%. You only need it when you are curing, so Macro it into your
cures. Since the Paladin 'upgrade' shield is really where the action is in my opinion.
I would go 2 Drones or 1 Drone and a Buckler. I used 2 Drones all the way to 75.

I recently bought a buckler and I wear it for general purpose tanking. I never used
a Hospitaler, and if it is really expensive and/or hard to obtain, I can't really see
needing it. (unless of course you just want it)

Right – the Hospitaler Earring is rare, forgot about that! I’ll have to check my auction house then to see if it is available and how much it costs. A mere 5% increase in cures does not look as good as a 10% increase I initially thought of.

Thanks for the great responses folks, seems like I will be keeping my Drones for quite a while still!

Or... if you're a cheapskate like me... you can kill the NM for it. All you need is Misareaux Coast access, a stack of sliced carp, and patience.

            Information on the NM (ffxi.somepage.com)

Btw, they are right when they say it's soloable at 70. Did it on my 70 whm and LIVED! Woot!

He's a 52PLD, not a 70+ whatever... come on, read the thread before telling him he can kill the NM for it.

              Please.

she did mentioned 70 to solo. And she didn't tell the OP to solo.

                  Re: Hospitaler Earrings

On Fenrir the Earring is rather inexpensive (and I do mean in proportion to everything else) and I got mine soon after it was released. I lub my Hospitaler, but that's me.

The +5% is small, yes, but over time (like all things) I believe it shows it's worth. However, I am talking from a Hume perspective, so I do slightly more curing than a Galka or Elvaan, and I have oh-so-slightly more AGI. I'm not much of a fan of equip-swapping (because I tend to forget) so I keep mine on at all times.

My suggestion is, if it's cheap, buy it and try it out. If you don't like it, sell it, if you do... keep it

I'm 62 and i have 2 drone earings still. I have a hopitaler macro in my cures so everytime you cure it switches the earring for you. Its very useful. If your not going to put it in a macro though, dont bother buying it. The +agi is more useful then the +5% curing.

I even tried the ear ring with curaga ear ring a few times... ; ; And found out curaga ear ring sucks. I thought I could use it for extra hate. But the cast time was very long... and after using it, I had to wait pretty long before I can use other abilities.
