Well, as Karinya said, you're basically only giving TP to the mob due to the low damage output. I've seen a THF/NIN use it once in Bibiki Bay and they wiped after only their 3rd pull because the gob was literally SPAMMING bomb toss faster than their main healer could cure. It was like a downward spiral which introduced myriads of problems, including downtime from raise sickness, loss of exp as well as having to regain all that mana being hemorraghed.

It truly shines in the hands (Ridill + Kraken) of a DRK/NIN, because of Soul Eater which ADDS an amount of damage PER STRIKE which is independant of weapons damage rating (The drawback is of course the massive loss of health which needs to be complimented with a WHM with +cast speed items and/or RDM spam+chainspell cure). To date, no other melee combination can out put as much damage as that combination can in the time that Soul Eater is active (And when Blood Weapon is on, it automatically boosts the damage by 100% for the 30seconds)

Of course, we're talking about PLDs, with their inherently weak potential for DD which must be overcome with a lot of money, time and effort (Or sheer will) So the combination wouldn't work well at all.

Actually, the Ridill would only slow the DRK down since a single KC attacks much faster. If the DRK pops Blood Weapon at the same time he gains back insane ammounts of HP.

        Re: The DD Paladin

I helped out with a Gallant Breeches run today in Beadeaux, and one of our LS members was toting around a K club. RDM/NIN, mainhanding a Martial Anelace with the K club in offhand, using enspells on himself. He had to go to work about halfway through, but while he was there, we were able to pull 2 mobs at a time. The 3 of us who were meleeing were all PLD (in tank setups for slower kills!) and he was able to kill his mob in the same amount of time that it took us 3 to kill one. Quite impressive to see a taru going psycho on something far larger than it. Reminded me of an angry hornet.

My personal experiments with DD gear on my Paladin aren't that extensive, and I've only messed around with a few pieces (RK chain/Breeches, etc.) but I was looking at the Sipahi Jawshan. Is it worth the buy? I was wanting to level a melee at some point and being able to use the same piece of gear would be a plus.

This confirms my theory, I was thinking more of the Savage at 200TP, instead of spammin Vorpal at 100.

As I have no exp with DD'ing as PLD, I thought I'd ask the people that know

I think in the rdm/nin set-up, it's prolly better for Spirits Within spam. In exp party, the amount of misses would be obscene, unless you have rediculous amounts of accuracy which would make it hit like a drunk chihuahua.
However, Paladins have an A rank club skill. Something I always found stupid, but regardless, this would make a pld/nin with kraken offhanded pretty effective.

Either way, I bet (for a paladin) that mainhanding a stronger sword and spamming Vorpal Blade every 100% would be more effective than lobbing off 300% strength savage/spirits every 200% with weaker DoT (afforded by lowish weapon damage). This is speculation on my part, though.
