    maybe pld should have a stronger auto-refresh trait granting 3mp/sec

    or

    and a random magic absorb affect where the mob hits the char and half the damage done to the pld is converted to mp

    sort of like counter but pure defense

      Give us Provoke? Fuck that. Then we'll all be expected to sub Ninja for shadows, and everyone will get to be really lazy because they've got a tank that can shield block and nullify damage via two shitty spells. Have you even tried out the new Shield system? We block quite a few more hits than we did pre-patch. I take half the damage that I used to in a normal party and I can hold hate almost without trying now. People's minds can't be changed overnight, and lazy assholes will always exist, but pretty soon they're going to realize what we have to offer. Get that PLD Provoke shit out of your heads, if it does happen it's going to break this game.

        Very, very happy with the new changes to PLD.

        I have picked it back up again from LV54. Been getting good pt invites too since most of Gilgamesh's NINs are all busy being BLU's.

        Shield blocking pretty much doubled it seems. Proc way much more now than I use to. The Auto-refresh is nice, I guess. Seem to be getting pretty average and decent TP having no acc+ equipment on.

        I'm moderately satisfied. I don't expect to be able to be in Uber WAR PT's endgame, but that's a flaw of the design of the game, not so much the PLD's flaw. =P

        If PLD got a Provoke JA, I'd quit FF11. That's just f<censored>ing stupid. >=(

        I do argueably like the idea of a shield block dissolving 100% damage on a successful proc, though. I think PLDs should be way more on par with a Ninja tank. Personally, why can't PLDs get a much larger boost in DEF somehow?

          A boost to defense isn't what we need. I'm sure you've noticed that mob damage is completely random past a certain level, and no amount of extra defense will help us. 100% damage reduction during a shield block would be awesome, but I'm sure someone would find something to bitch about because it would really narrow the gap between Paladins and Ninjas as tanks. Right now what we have is fine, it gives us more freedom during situations where we need to be left by ourselves to melee the big scary mob that rips everyone else to shreds.

            Shield Blocks actually did used to be equivalent to evading an attack. When you Shield Blocked back then, you would take no damage. When they changed it so it worked more like Guard, they also upped the chances of Shield Block going off. I wasn't very fond of this change at first, as my Thief/Monk used a shield when main-handing Dagger or Sword and that change significantly reduced my effectiveness as a sub-tank in parties. I eventually adapted to the idea however, and still use shields on my Thief when soloing as /whm or when /war subjob.

                I never really saw the point in the first change to shields when they made the block occur more often, but we still took damage. That was over a year ago, wasn't it? I'm sure it has something to do with not wanting to make Paladins overpowered (lol @ SE), but what the hell? They threw logic out the window again.

                  I don't know, but shield was really hard to skill up back then, and it didn't exactly go off very often because of it. Even before this update, I liked it better when shields blocked partial damage on a regular basis.

                    They introduced shield size in the same patch. I think it was probably just to make a difference between shields.
