    All this talk about Auto Refesh and Shield Blocking is fine and all but didnt they say they are gona give Paladins a 3min Provoke? if so there are gona be alot of PLD/NIN as tanks... too bad Ninjas lol

          This is official:
          The following features have been added to the paladin job:

          Shield Mastery: Grants bonus TP when blocking an attack with a shield.
          Auto Refresh: Gradually restores MP.

            blm and rdm both are going to be nerfed. Not individually, but if there's more than 1 blm/rdm in pty, the magic will be less effective.

              Officially, neither will be nerfed.
              Black Mage
              We recognize that black mage is a very powerful job. We see that a lot of players are forming parties with just black mages, and we would like to change that. We do not plan to weaken the job, but we want to create benefits for partying with other jobs. We are also considering adding new magic to the black mages’ repertoire.
              Red Mage
              Red mage is a complex and powerful job once mastered. We are thinking about adding new magic, but the nature of the spells has yet to be decided.

                  -A JA like Souleater, which adds accuracy like aggressor.
                  -Change Stun from level 37 to level 40. Change recast of Stun from 45s to 30s.

                  That's it. They can toy around with Abs spells all they want, but I could care less if SE took those away from us. Hah. Just give us the two changes up there ...

                    They're not going to raise the level of Stun any more than they're going to raise the level of Utsusemi:Ni. 37 was not chosen at random. It was specifically in order to allow situational subjob use at endgame levels. (In the case of Utsu:Ni, it's "situational" as in "if any monster would ever attack you"...)


                    The PLD changes look interesting - and the battle system changes to shields obviously affect PLD a lot, too. Both the block rate and the amount blocked increased, according to the update.

                    I'm a little surprised to see straight Auto-Refresh, but I guess it counters PLDs' inability to rest during combat the way mages can. I wonder what level we get it at... I'm already 75, but it could make a difference in level capped content. The TP is less exciting, unless it's a *lot*.


                    I think DRK should get a JA that makes their next hit restore MP equal to damage done like Spirit Taker, or one that allows them to cast spells using their HP instead of MP (and possibly also the Magic Accuracy Bonus trait that's been suggested before on these forums).

                    Make DRK more DRK-like, not more like other melees. There are plenty of "just another melee DD" jobs already, and if you *just* want to beat stuff up, you should change to one.

                      Red Mage dont need anything in the expansion ... they are already godly once u get used to playing them .... so why make them harder in PVP for us Melee

                        Coming from any RDM, I call BS on this. I'm sorry and I mean no offense, but remember, in end game 40% of mages are BLMs and they have access to stun. This means that there's more stunners than there are Utsu: Ni users in any circumstances with the exception of a full-blow NIN + /NIN job fest in rare situationtional roles.

                        By your logic, we should have refresh on a 37 RDM. Heh.

                          Hahaha. RDM got the improved sheild proc/dmg reduction same as any other job with a shield skill, a small boost when not wearing a staff anyway... Also /pld now offers us auto-refresh. Kinda of a nice package for a melee'ing subjob and plays to rdm strengths-

                          ex WS like vorpal blade
                          sheild mastery + joytoy for fast tp gain
                          auto-refresh
                          small mp boost
                          sentinel
                          cover
                          Flash


                          You may not like RDM in PvP, but in end-game events we're totally punked into being cure/haste/refresh bots... Oh and what God gear do we get? That's right the sheild and only the sheild. And some of our Abj's are usually given to PLD's and BLM's first. Our enfeebling is broken on the Gods and no amount of gear & meriting really makes it significantly better. Because xp parties use nin tanks mostly and hunt IT++++ instead of VT and low IT our generalized sikills are (too weak) for us to melee or nuke. We have to gear up to 59/60 just to be able to do our multiple rolls half-way competently, and consequenbtly say goodbye to crystals and KS and BS that drop in a fast paced party.

                          I'll grant we are a walking party, and can solo very well on things weaker than us, or use kiting & DOT spells, or sleep/nuke, or Utsusemi 1 & 2 and Fast Cast to solo harder things. But just because a few ppl with godly gear and timing and patience to fight one mob for hours on end can do amazing things as rdm/nin doesn't mean our job is too powerful. That's a case of Ninja being broken, not Red Mage.

                          Because we have a lot of diverse abilities means we get crap JSE, hardly any new items, poor magic and melee acc vs the super IT's ppl like to fight, our unique spells whored out on gear and blood pacts, and outclasseed by Blue Mage Sword skill of all things! ; ; Isn't that enough?

                          No that's right I forgot about the whole {Refresh} {Please} and {Haste} {Please} and {Dispel} spam that causes some of us to burn out on a very complicated, macro piano-playing job.

                            although pld now have auto refresh and so call better shield mastery etc.
                            It still did not change the mind set of level up pt or merit pt.
                            Most people would still take a bad ninja then a good pld.
                            I think the only way to change those mind set is to give pld provoke or something samilar or ninja spell blink.

                              thats exactly my Point ... oh yea RDM get spamed for Haste and Refresh etc but what about Paladins .. at high lvl we get Very LOW invites to partys. not too mention that when we solo it takes forever even if we Sub Ninja. this is why i started to play Samurai and i will continue playing one untel Paladin get Provoke. also i might try Corisar.

                                lucky my pld is aleady 75 after some hardwork and making my own pt often.
                                But after dying too much in dynamis or hnm then i have to go to level pt for some safety exp >.< I only merit with rdm since pld never get merit pt...
